Good thing I missed my flight

from A TripAdvisor Member
I missed my 9 pm flight and had to find a place to stay to catch an early morning rescheduled flight. John, the shuttle driver, was helpful, enthusiastic and very cool. I was going to stay at a hotel recommended by the airlines for more money but, because I am on a budget, I was relieved when John drove by and told me about the rates and accomodations at the Adventurer.

I want to give a shout out to Chris, the "Director of Marketing." He was jovial, extremely hospitable and in tune to making the Adventurer a hip place to stay. Thanks for drinks!! The bartender at the restaurant was totally fly. I met some good people here. Especially the German butcher living in Sweden.

Great value!

Never again!

I really advise anybody against that hotel! It's really old, inside and outside,
it smells dampness all the time in the room and the bathroom is scary. Even if you have a small budget for your vacations, avoid this hotel, you deserve better than that! Believe me.

I wish I could give this hotel review a -5. This place was scary! First off, I had reservations for a 2 queen bed suite. When I went to check in, the front desk told me I was getting the last room which was 1 queen bed and a sofa bed, basically not what I had reservations for and when I debated the issue they told me that was all they had left but that I would love it. Although with much hesitation, I accepted the room. On the way to my room I noticed that some of the other rooms had their blinds open and it seemed as if they had been living in there for a long time, not vacation time either. When I got to my room and opened the door the first thing that slapped me in the face was the harsh smell of meldew, and a nasty stale cigarette odor. The walls had so many scuffs, marks, and dirt I was scared to even touch the light switches. The sofa was old, dingy, wore down and when you sat on it, your knees went up! There was only 1 chair to the table and every piece of furniture had at LEAST 15-20 cigarette burn marks on them. The heater was busted and there were stains and blotches of who knows what on the carpet. The bathroom still had urine in the toilet and the bottom of the sink looked as if it was erroding, it was black and had mold on it. There was no way I was resting my head in a place like this. I went back to the office to tell them about the busted heater and they said they would get maintanance to fix it, I also told of the mildew smell and they said that it had been raining lately and the roof had been leaking but they would have the maintanance man spray air freshner in the room. I immediately asked for my money back which they did give back and I ran outta there without looking back. I will NEVER go back to this place again. Take it from me, and all the other reviews for this hotel on this site. DO NOT GO, and DO NOT bring your kids here for safety sake. This truly is not a family oriented hotel.

I have stayed here 3 times becuase it is cheap cheap cheap. The area it is in is very very dodgy and not wise to go out and walk around.
I was in the games area using the internet once when 4 police officers ran thru with guns in hand!!! The property seems to be used mainly by tour operators who run camping/adventure tours. Overall it was average but would recommend you spend the extra and stay at the Holiday Inn or similar.
The big plus of this place is the free transfers to Venice beach and shopping expeditions (check to see they still do this...)

great value for what you pay.

I enjoyed my full stay. Staff was very courteous and helpful. My private room was much more spacious than expected. With the living area containing a full size couch, table and chairs, small fridge with counter top and sink. All this seperate from the bedroom which had a queen size bed with all new furnishings. If looking for accomodations in this price range, I found this hotel to offer more than what you pay for. Adding the free shuttles to and from airport, plus attractions. Plus complimentary breakfast. Free appetizers and champagne at night with dollar drinks. WOW!!! I'll definetley stay there again.

cheap overnight

I play for the Kansas City Wizards a Major League Soccer team (MLS). We had a 3 week road game spree mostly in taking place in California, So the Wizards agency booked a few of us in the Adventurer, myself and 3 other team mates. We got there at 8:36...We couldn't get into our room until 9:00 because the people were not out yet. The room we stayed in smelled like a senoir citizens atic, and our furniture was ripped and old...I hated the 4 day stay here and think what they advertise is all 100% lies...Bad Choice for Buisness Vacation or partial living quarters...Not Recomended.

Loved it!!

Me and 4 of my friends stayed at the Backpackers Paradise Hostel in Los Angeles for 6 nights and had a fantastic time. We didnt want to leave. The heated pool was great and open until midnight. The rooms were fantastic and very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We couldnt have asked for a better hostel especially at the low price they charge. Would go back any day.

expect what you pay for!!!

We knew what to expect when we stayed here. Its the closest thing I've seen to a youth hostel in the states. We had a blast!! I wouldn't bring kids, but if your looking for a good cheap place to stay in LA, here's you place. Great for younger adults, 20's-30's. Alot of fun!!

Never Again!

I took my kids to LA for a weekend trip and stayed at The Adventurer. We had never stayed in such a poorly accomodated place before. The room smelled disgusting like mold/mildew, their were water leak stains all over the roof, the walls had black marks all over them, the furniture was VERY old and ugly. The only feature in that room that had ACTUALLY been renovated was the bathroom. They say that hotel was renovated in 2000 well I don't know what they consider to be "renovated" but this surely wasn't it. Someone else in here nailed it "sleazy" that's my take also. Their advertisements are BS. I booked a "2 bedroom suite" it consisted of 2 queen beds with a wall seperating the beds and NO cable TV either. I WILL NEVER make that mistake again.

Top Local Tips for Inglewood

FIND A BETTER PLACE Do Not stay at this hotel. There are others around that are cheaper and are better known hotels and offer better customer service.

dont stay here!!! dont stay here unless you have to is my advice!

Only get a chain hotel name Pay up! You'll be so much better off in a Marriott, or even a Super 8. DO NOT GO WITH AN UNKNOWN NAME IN THIS AREA. It's a rough neighborhood.
