Top Local Tips for Hollywood
Not necessary to have a car On the contrary to common belief in our first day in Los Angeles we didnt need a car, and it saved us some bucks since we were traveling with a tight budget. Mainly it was because our hotel, the Sunset La Brea Travelodge, had an exellent location close to the Chinese Theatre, and the Walk of Fame and the Kodak Theatre, in wich we were interested to see. Next to the theatre there was a metro sation that took us to Universal Studios, the trip costs 3 dollars and you can use your ticket for a full day. Back in the hotel we took a 2 dollars bus to The Sunset Strip, we went for dinner and drinks (avoid the Viper Room, they charge 15 dollars to get in, to see a unknown band and the place is small and out dated). You can also take a 35 dollars tour to see the rest of the city, we didnt took it. For the rest of the trip we rented a car, to visit Venice Beach, Beverlly Hills and Disney. So you can survive one day without a car over there, and save on rental, gas, parkings and traffic.
Star Line Tours If you want to see all the homes of the stars and movie locations then this is definitely the company to go with. Professional, friendly and a wealth of knowledge, you can pick up a tour at the Chinese Theatre. We were planning to drive ourselves but we were so glad we decided to take a tour instead - our tour guide Danny was absolutely brilliant and was also a photographer (proper not paparazzi!) so had all the gossip about who was in town and premieres etc. Well worth the money and much better than doing it yourself with a star map!
