The Bed Bugs Bite!
from Kari76DixonNOT WORTH THE MONEY
from bestbet33Cons: Needs renovating, expensive for Best Western, poor staff
I stayed at this hotel for one night with friends to see a taping of the Tonight Show. I chose this hotel because it looked like a nice motel from the pictures. I was disappointed.
There was nothing too special with check in. While the staff certainly wasn’t rude, they didn’t smile or ever go out of their way. The lobby was tiny though was well kept. Our second floor room was clean (most importantly) though reminded me of a Motel 6 with only VERY basic amenities. It seemed worn with outdated furnishings and dark green carpet. I liked the free parking and free internet (however I had to go to the lobby with my laptop for a wired connection). I did not use the pool, though again it looked like one you would see at a Motel 6.
The location was in walking distance to the “Walk of Fame”, though is definitely not a stretch you want to walk at night (lots of bums and dingy old buildings).
In conclusion, stay at the Holiday Inn for the same price (much, much, much nicer in every way) or pay a little more and stay at the Hilton.
Good value
from gettyfanThe location is the best thing about this motel, a short walk from Hollywood Boulevard, Mann's etc. Having stayed at some fairly gnarly 'independent' motels on our 4 week odyssey around California, I learnt that the chains are the most reliable family accommodation.
New Very Comfortable Beds!

from A TripAdvisor MemberAs previously stated, the black glass facade in the front of the property gives you the impression that it's an enclosed building instead of a motel where all of the rooms open to the outside.
The entire time I was in this motel (NOT a hotel!), I felt as if I was in the 1970s as the style of the place hasn't been updated for some time. Not charming, rather mid-century low-rent.
Not enough parking inside the motel, which is a serious issue as the hotel is on a very busy avenue (little street-side parking).
The coffee shop is ok as a diner-type of place.
Great for tourists
from balletshoesIt is not a hotel or inn. They have designed the outside of it so it looks like a glass building, but once you are inside you will see it is a motel. They disguised the front to make it look nicer. There is no room service, but a little coffee shop next to the lobby. It is run by 2 old sisters who don't speak much English. IF they notice you when you sit down they will ask if you want a cup of coffee, if you say no just water or juice they don't understand and you will have nothing to drink. We learned to just say yes to coffee. Prices were very cheap here, but it is frusterating trying to understand the sisters and waiting for service.
Parking was horrible at night. They have a very limited amount of parking spaces, so some people parked along the sides of walls blocking the enterance to the elevators, doors, and even the driveway to the hotel. We asked about parking at the Holiday inn next door since there was no place to park, but that was not allowed.
Pool was nice, hot tub could have been hotter.
Great location so you can walk to the Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, museums, Kodak, Hollywood and Highland Complex. Great location for anyone on vacation and you won't mind your stay if you are not planning on spending much time in the hotel.
Best Western Hollywood Plaza Inn

from You15Coffee Shop: Only open 2-7pm during the weekends. Unclear what the hours are for the weekdays. I was under the impression that the coffee shop would be a convience. Did not turn out that way.
Room: Clean, older decore, televison channels came in with a lot of snow.
Comfort: Very noisy, could hear residents shouting and partying, slamming doors, taking showers, playing music, driving up in their cars - the design of the building had a lot to do with the automobile noise because parking was underneath the hotel. I think the noise of shouting and partying was due to the hotel being so close to clubs in Hollywood and people coming back to continue partying after the clubs shut-down.
I will not stay at the hotel when I return to Hollywood.
Restaurant O.K.

Must see If you love architecture, don't miss the Getty Museum. I spent more time feasting on the buildings and the gardens outside (it was a beautiful warm day after a long cold winter) than on the exhibits.Take the docent-led tour which explains the whys of its design and points out things you might never have noticed!
Best beach The best beach we found was Zuma beach at Point Dume just west of Malibu. Awesome beach and great swimming. Point Dume is also great to hike around and was used in the original Planet of the Apes movie. We spent hours there swimming and laying on the beach. The other beach which we liked was at the end of LAX airport.
Hollywood Boulevard/Down Town LA Don't expect to see stars or well attired people on the streets. The Boulevard is tacky and rundown. The Chinese Theatre is in the process of overhaul. The stores are full of trashy merchandise, or are closed. Down town LA looks like a poor third world country with cement sidewalks. My impression of the entire area was not good. The Norton Simon and the Exposition Park Museums are worth the trip, especially on the Metro. So is the Farmers Market. Using the Metro system is quick and cheap. Regular fare is $5 for a full day. Seniors and handicap are charged $1.80. That'll take a person from one end of the county to the other. Even getting lost is no problem, when there isn't a car to consider. Just hop onto the returning bus or rail car, and go back/forward to the correct destination in minutes.
