My wife and I stayed here with our 2 kids for 2 nights. The pool was nice. It is heated and half is covered. The kids liked to swim from the covered to uncovered side. Nice hot tub set to 104F. Room was good with a fireplace. There is a Coast Guard Base on the island in the bay that was doing night ops both nights we were there, so we had to keep the windows closed for the noise to sleep, which made the room very warm without being able to enjoy the fireplace. Do youself a favor and ask for a room on the south side away from the mall and bay side. The view from the water side is just a view of a RV repair business and the water view is not spectacular anyway. We did like the proximity to the Redwoods and the mall next door was handy. Good breakfast bar. The next trip we will stay farther north like in cresent city. Eureka is nothing to right home about.Fun beach in Samoa 4 kids- no swimming from the undertow-but big crashing waves were fun.

Great breakfast bar

from SSMatriarch
We were pleased with the room which was nice and large. The breakfast offered included scrambled eggs and sausage and great freshly baked cinnamon rolls. They opened up an extra dining area, and there was plenty of room to sit. They kept the breakfast bar filled, too, so late comers still had a chance to have a decent breakfast.

Very cosy Room with plenty of space - not sure about the area mind!

On our way to Portland Oregon; my boyfriend and I ended up staying in Eureka, a place neither of us had heard of (we are from the UK!). We came across the Best Western and booked in for 2 nights. We were offered the Jacuzzi King room at a great rate which was lovely. The bed was so very comfortable and the room was massive. We had been travelling for the past 3 weeks and have stayed at some excellent hotels, this was definitely one of the top rooms we've had purely because of the price, size and comfort.
They provide a free breakfast, a great selection of muffins, breads, eggs, bacon etc. I did not eat the eggs or bacon as they didn't look too tasty, the cereal and bagals were fine for me. Hopefully you'll find something you like.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again but unlikely i'd come back to Eureka, there isn't very much to do but for a nights' stop, it's great.
Ate at the restaurant across the way (Maire Calendars), very slow service but the pies are excellent (especially the cherry!).

Great place to stay

My husband and I stayed at the Bayshore for 2 nights. We would definitely stay here again. Our king-size room was large, very new and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is unbelievable, a great assortment and all very tasty. The hotel property includes a business center with high-speed internet access, a small gym and guest laundry.

Parking is a bit tight.

Try to avoid rooms on the mall side (across from Ray's food store). Delivery trucks start rolling in early, and the sliding glass doors don't provide much sound proofing.

This is probably the best place to stay in Eureka. I booked my reservation at least a month in advance after almost two months of researching motels, hotels and b&b's for a well deserved vacation for my wife and I. This was the best we could find in Eureka. I was excited about the "Bayview" suite/room that was offered to us. Although the room did have a "Bayview" from the top floor, the Bay was perhaps 1/2 mile away. Below our room, in the backyard of the hotel, was a pickup "topper" business. That's the view everyone got! The parking is pretty bad too. If you don't get one of the 10 or so parking places when you first get there, you will be hauling suitcases a pretty good distance. Part of the problem is the resturant shares the parking area and is a stones throw from the rooms.

The rooms were typically Best Western. Nothing fancy, fairly comfortable, clean and most probably the best in Eureka. Noise was a little above normal and the TV was pretty bad. All in all, it rates a average with us. Disappointed at the parking, and the claim of a "Bayview" suite. Rooms could have been a bit more quiet considering the traffic on 101 and you don't want to be by the ice maker or the stairs if you like quiet, and finally at $135.00.....wasn't much of a bargin.

Nice for the area

We recently stayed at the Best Western and found it very nice. Everything you need is in the room. They really go out of their way to make the rooms comfortable. There is a refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot in the room. Also included is free hi speed internet access. The free breakfast was better than most free breakfasts. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausages, muffins, cereal, all very good. They even had special blend coffees and teas. There is a Marie Callendars restaurant on site that gives you 10% off if you are staying at BW. The only problem we had was the noise of the outdoor hallways. All of the doors open up to the outside and there were kids running up and down the hallways, don't understand why parents let this happen. No consideration for the guests wanting a quiet room. I did make a call to the front desk and it was quickly taken care of. I would defintley recommend the BW and take time to explore the cute area.

Nice, good value

We had a nice stay here and found this motel a pretty good value. It has a very extensive breakfast bar that we appreciated. Our only complaint is that it's not close to much except the only decent shopping center in Eureka. When I booked I had the wrong impression that it was more central than it turned-out to be.

Comfortable stay.

Stayed in an inside room on the second floor. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. It was nice looking out at the Bay. The vanity area was a little crowded because the microwave, refridgerator, coffee maker, and sink all in shared the same area. The selfserve breakfast was delicious but the dining area was small (still worth crowding in). I had a great stay and will stay there again.

Okay for Area but not Great

from MalibuMike
The setting is not very pretty (right on 101) but then again I didn't see any picturesque lodging anywhere in Eureka. It's pretty much a standard BW motel next door to a shopping mall. It was clean and efficient in a good central location five minutes from downtown. The full breakfast, however, was mediocre.

Great Place to Stay!!

My husband and I spent July 4th 2005 at the Bayshore and what a great stay!! The rooms are spotless the location is within walking distance to everything you need. The staff were great! The rooms have a small balcony to sit out on--the bath rooms are seperate--toilet and shower in one room. The water pressure was great and the full breakfast in the morning is included in the price. We will stay there again in the future! Thankyou!!

Top Local Tips for Eureka

Don't skip Sequoia Park Sequoia Park is a preserved section of town with old growth redwoods, a creek and a pond. There is also the small but sweet Sequoia Park Zoo (great for kids). Also, don't miss Samoa beach for miles of beach walking.
