Since coming west from New Hampshire in 1980 we have had the occasion to stop at the Hacienda many times as a start off for a trip. We feel safe, comfortable and at home and the amenities are all we could desire.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Hacienda Lax Airport Hotel

Convenient for early LAX flight departures

from A TripAdvisor Member
We had to catch an early LAX flight and wanted to avoid rush hour traffic so our travel agent referred us to the HACIENDA for their park/fly special. I called to confirm reservation and it was not booked, but they politely rebooked us. Since our requested type of room wasn't available they gave us an upgraded mini suite. The room was spacious and clean overlooking the grocery store and Starbucks in a nice shopping strip directly across the street (good option for preflight breakfast). Shuttles took us to the airport (very convenient) and from the airport back to hotel(took longer than would have liked, but it worked). The price of hotel included our parking while we travelled which if calculated probably "gave" us a free hotel room for the night. Parking was an outside lot so don't bring your nice car!

Forget it - Choked to Death on Bitumen Fumes

Well Where do you start - Looks good when you arrive at check in - But wait untill you see the Rooms - Old and outdated, bathrooms from the 70's with mouldy tiles and unclean drains clogged with hair.
Upon arrival to our room we noticed an acrid strong smell of diesel,
through the AC and throughout the entire Hotel after complaining to reception, they shrugged it of as ' oh yer i think we are having the roof repaired ' Further investigation by walking around revealled that the entire roof was being resealed with bitumen, the entire hotel reaked of it.
If your doing renovations like that you shut down the Hotel not fumigate its inhabitants. Had Burning lungs for days after. Beter air quality at the Airport itself.

Despite offering guest parking for only $5 night, dont expect to get a space, the hotel parking is also availiable to other paying parking customers who use the function rooms and restaurant. So if you go out don't expect to park again where you have paid. Hotel told us to park at the ralphs across the street, but not if you want your car towed away.

Honestly don't stay here, Old small rooms, rude staff, Slow lsmall lifts Will not be staying here again.

Great Value

We stayed at the Hacienda while waiting for my son to arrive at LAX. We were in the south tower, the parking(only 5 dollars a day!!!!!compare that to some other hotels in the area at 19 dollars) was in view of the room, just on the other side of the swimming pool. Our room was quiet, unlike most hotels near LAX. The shuttle picked my son up 15 minutes after he called. He had missed his flight so the hotel allowed us to extend our checkout until 2pm at no charge. Our room was clean, the staff helpful. Safe area, Starbucks across the street. Free Shuttle to Manhattan Mall, take that and then cross the street to PF Changs and great movie theater.

great place to stay 5 min from LAX aiport

My daughter and I stayed here May 23rd 2005. We had a early flight in the am. The hotel was very nice. Spacious rooms and a hugh bathroom with nice towels and great shower (that didn't trinkle out) The pool was nice and the garden was awesome. I stayed on the 9th floor and it was great. I got such a good deal from Holiday City. I like this hotel better than the bayside in santa monica. Clean rooms, coffee maker, newspaper in the am. What more could you ask for. Thanks for the great stay Hacienda.

Spend a little more...

Yuck. That pretty much summarizes the Hacienda Hotel, El Segundo. When reading the other reviews, I did have some high expectations - but was greatly disappointed.

The Hotel Lobby looks great...but the rooms are old, musty, and did I say old?? The room is mediocre at best, and the beds are ROCK hard. I would have gladly paid more to stay at a decent place. Also, you must park your car OFF SITE, about a block away. Will definately not stay here ever again!

A Lot of Hotel for the Money...

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was impressed with the overall hospitality - from the 24-hour LAX shuttle, to the beautiful old Mexico motif of the hotel and the comfortable rooms. Mariposas Restaurant served great meals during our stay and the convenient location near the beach, LAX, freeways, etc. made this an ideal starting point for our visit to Los Angeles. I recommend the Hacienda Hotel at LAX for the value and will certainly stay there again in the future. Also, I appreciated the ease of making online reservations at the HaciendaHotel website.

If you need to overnight at LAX...

from EandLJ
This hotel is conveniently located about 10 minutes south of LAX and offers a free shuttle service that runs every 20 minutes. The hotel is older and needs some attention paid to maintenance (for example, the wallpaper was lifting off the walls in our bathroom) but it is generally clean and quiet. The quaint main street of El Segundo is within walking distance and offers shops and restaurants. The more adventurous can venture a few more blocks to visit El Segundo beach and the open Pacific. If you feel the need to stay closer to the hotel, there is a 24-hour restaurant and coffee shop on-site. And for those die-hard caffeine addicts, there is a Starbucks right across the street. The staff at the Hacienda perform their jobs adequately but not always with the service-oriented smiles at other hotels. But if all you need is a clean, quiet room to overnight in before you catch that morning flight, then this will do the trick.

over billed

from kellie
I had an 8 hour layover in LA and got a rate of $45 for a few hours in the hotel, which was fine--I just needed to shower and nap. When the credit card bill came, I was charged $110. I called the hotel and they credited the account, but obviously they were hoping I would not look at the credit card closely. Be careful if you stay there and keep your receipt! Otherwise, the hotel was ok for a quick stay. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and the room appeared clean enough. Extremely loud location though.

Very disappointed in the Hacienda Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I booked at the Hacienda Hotel because I was attending a class being held there. When my guests and I arrived we were very disappointed. The hotel is old and the rooms are smaller than most hotel rooms. Everything in the room was old including the bathroom sink, shower, tile, etc., and it had a musty smell. It didn't offer any coffee, blow dryer or iron in the room and no breakfast snacks, etc. They were doing some remodeling so there were carpet layers doing the hallway just outside our door. We didn't want to be hearing them work and we were just unhappy with our room, so we cancelled and went to The Embassy Suites. For just $30 more, it had a beautiful indoor atrium with large plants and a pond with live fish, an indoor pool and jacuzzi, full breakfast for 4 and and evening cocktail hour with free drinks and snacks, etc. I'm so glad we made the switch.

We like the Hacienda

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have stayed at the Hacienda numerous times, always a park and fly reservation, so convenient for us because we live 3 1/2 to 4 hours away. The rooms are fine, bigger than many, restaurants right at the hotel, good food, and the shuttle service to the airport is great. We've recommended it to several people and they agree. In fact we're making a reservation for August, also park and fly. Way to go.

Top Local Tips for El Segundo

Business I came here to take a class, and it was the worst thing i could have done,!

Fantastic sandwiches!!! Check out Rinaldi's Italian Deli on Main Street in El Segundo. Park in structure on Grand just west of Main. Mind-blowing array of sandwiches (hot and cold) and pasta. No ambiance, so get it to go and take it to El Segundo park, or eat at one of their few outside tables.

Great deal (If you want a 1 star hotel) I am a business traveller and tend to read reviews before I book my hotel, so I take reviews with a grain of salt and try to do the best I can. Please take this review serious, if you are looking for a very low budget hotel with very dirty rooms and hallways that smell like mold this is the hotel for you. Otherwise, I would suggest staying as far away as possible. In this case I would say that you really dont get what you pay for. If you really want to stay at the Hacienda take your own cleaner supplies.
