Nice Location

I really enjoyed this hotel. Location was convenient and within walking distance to all sorts of shops and restaurants and only a few steps away from the beach. Beds were comfortable, desk clerk was courteous. Great location during tourist season for the kids, as they have a schedule of events to keep everyone busy. Rooms were nice, but one complaint. Walls were not thick enough. TVs were heard on both sides of my room, and I could even hear a telephone conversation going on with the man next door to me and heard all his coughs and sneezes. Grounds were beautiful. Mexican restaurant directly across the main street had yummy breakfast burritos. Port Pizza down the street was delicious. I would definitly stay here again, even with the thin walls!

Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort is Wonderful

We recently stayed two nights at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort in

Carlsbad, CA 92008). Having never visited Carlsbad, we didn't know where to stay or
what to expect. The web sites of a number of hotels in the area
helped, as did our review of Trip Advisor entries. Although the Carlsbad Inn
Beach Resort looked promising -----, we were delightfully surprised--what a
charming hotel! We would recommend room 361 to anyone! It was
spacious, clean, and its pleasant patio/balcony had a marvelous view of the
ocean. The hotel was well situated; its front entrance was near to the
intersection of Carlsbad Village Drive, and so afforded just a short walk
to the restaurants and shops (numerous antique stores and boutiques) on
nearby State Street; from the rear (ocean) side of the hotel, we had
just a short walk to the beach and spent a lovely early evening sitting
on the strand, watching the efforts of a not always successful (but
energetic and committed) surfer dude. The staff at the hotel was very
helpful, from the desk clerk staff who recommended local restaurants, to
the maintenace staff who diligently kept things clean. The
just-dated-enough hotel decor was absolutely charming. The fireplace in the lobby
was so cozy and inviting The grounds were meticulously maintained. The
newly planted flowers, seen everywhere on the grounds, and particularly
the blossoming rununculus, were gorgeous. What a pleasant place! Best
of all, the "adult-only" hot tub was such a welcome respite after a
day's walking. On a day that had just a tad of a coolness, the tub
provided such relaxation and cheer. We would recommend this hotel highly to
anyone visiting San Diego's North County area.

Charming and Wonderful

Mu husband I visited Carlsbad (San Diego) once before and stayed at LoCosta Resort (wonderful and grand, might I add). I fell in love with the city BIG TIME!!! When we decided to go back, I decided to stay somewhere different. I checked online and was drawn to Carlsbad Inn. I kept coming back to the website and finally decided to give them a try. When we pulled up, I remember seeing the hotel on an earlier visit and well as eating at the adjacent restaurant.
When I walked in, I was really surprised at the quaintness of it. I can hardly put it to words. It had a large sunken den with a fireplace in the lobby. The staff was VERY friendly!!!

When we got to our room, I was just taken back!!! The bed was SO fluffy and large! The kitchen was well-equipped (even though we never ate in the room). Our room faced the street, but was never noisy. This place reminds me of Old Hollywood (I'm young, but I've seen pics and can imagine)!

The beach is across the street(if that's what you want to call it - most use it for jogging and walking their dogs!).

I promised when we return to Carlsbad, this will be my home!!!

This is the place to be!!!!

Places to eat: A mexican restaurant (can't think of the name - a 1 min walk on the same street as hotel)a door or 2 down from Stone Creamery and for seafood Fish House Vera Cruz up the street (a 4-6 minute walk). Excellent!!! It's best to make reservations here as they stay PACKED on the wknds. For breakfast, The Daily News (adjacent to the hotel - 30 seconds, max).

We stayed in the timeshare section for a week and loved it! They were redoing the common areas of the Inn (shared with the hotel) while we were there - new flooring, carpet, furniture...We had a 2 bedroom timeshare unit and it had been completely redone - granite countertops in the kitchen, new furniture, 2 very large bathrooms, the huge master BR has a built-in desk..the beds were VERY comfortable, and had down comforters and pillows! The balcony overlooked the green, which is lovely, with lots of flowers, and we had a partial ocean view. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the resort was spotless, and the beach very close by down some steps. There is also an underground, secure parking garage. There were a lot of families with young children staying there. The activities are oriented toward either families with children, or toward retirees: karoke, bingo, crafts, tours, cookouts and happy hour on the green. The fitness area is well equipped, and they also loan out bicycles and baby joggers to guests. My girlfriend and I were doing a get-away from husbands and kids, and we wanted to shop and do cultural events; the concierge was not that knowledgeable about live theater events, but otherwise very helpful. Carlsbad is laid-back and charming - lots of cute shops and good restaurants, and close to San Diego. We will definitely go back again!

Great location and Relaxing!

My husband and I had a wonderful time. The staff gave us a great discount on the rate and the room was nice size with a kitchenette, above average. We could walk to the beach! There were resturants only a few minutes walk from our room. The only negitive was the adjoining room was a bit noisy. The building was quaint and smelled of flowers growing everywhere. A nice place to getaway If you don't mind getting out of SD a little ways. Worth It!

Drove into Carlsbad without a hotel reservation. We stopped at 3 different hotels to ask about rates (the going rate seemed to be $145 for a Tuesday night). Stopped by the Carlsbad Inn and when I went inside to inquire I was given a rate of 114! Well, needless to say I took the room. The "room" was actually a time share suite equiped with kitchen (all utensils, plates, machines included), one bedroom, living room with vcr, dvd player. I couldn't believe how nice this really was, actually I couldn't believe I only had to pay 114 for this! The premises are great, the beach is just one street away. Warning-everything in Carlsbad seems to close at 9. We ate at the nearby Koko Beach Restaurant and it was great! I don't know if anyone will ever get as lucky as I did with this place, but I highly recommend it.

Beware: Timeshare!!!

Overall, this was a lovely hotel. It is not really kid friendly as it is a timeshare resort and attracts a more mature client. Beware of the "continental breakfast" on Sunday and Monday mornings as it is a time share presentation. The staff did not inform us of this and my kids were terribly bored sitting through the presentation. I felt it would be inappropriate to walk out in the middle, so I sat. It really put us behind as we had a day full of amusement parks ahead. The hotel also looks as though it is located right on the beach. It is actually a very short walk through the resort and across the street. The staff was very informative. The front desk charged our credit card $16 plus tax more per night than we were quoted. Because of this, we will not return.

Carlsbad Inn Absolutely Fantastic!

We just returned from our vacation at the Carlsbad Inn and I don't think that I will be able to say enough positive things about this place! I absolutely LOVED it! The Inn has a nice European flair. It is very warm and homey with traditional decor, with fireplaces in the lobby and in some of the rooms. It is convenient to everything, we only used our car one time to hit the outlet stores, other than that everything is withing walking distance! The Inn has a nice Mexican restaurant on site as well as a salon, ice cream shop, and breakfast and sandwich shop. The staff was very friendly, everyone we encountered from the people at the front desk down to the groundsmen always met us with a smile! The Inn caters to families with children as well as Seniors. There are many planned trips to various parts of Southern CA and Mexico for the Seniors as well as planned activities for the kids. The Inn is part time share part Inn. It is easy to see that the same families tend to go there year after year because everyone was very friendly. We stayed in a reguar room our first night and then moved to a one bedroom suite with kitchenette for the remainder of our stay. The Inn has regular rooms, kitchenette suites and one one bedroom suite. I heard that the two fireplace suites are gorgeous and I've already booked one for next year ! If you go there I highly recommend that you request a room with an ocean view. The one bedroom and two bedroom timeshares are also available for weekly rental. The Inn has a very small playground, a decent sized pool, a kids hot tub, a separate adult hot tub, a small healthclub with bikes, elliptical machines, treadmills, and weights, and a gameroom for the kids. Most importantly, it is across the street and down the stairs from the BEACH! There is a cabana on the beach that loans out beach toys, boogie boards, umbrellas, and chairs for 4 hours at a time so there is no need to bring any from home. The hotel also supplies beach towels! Our family used to vacation every year on Mission and Pacific Beach but from now on we will definitely be staying in Carlsbad at the Inn! The beaches are cleaner, and the area is more laid back and oh so very family friendly! Instead of bars, nightclubs, and tattoo parlors on every corner there are sidewalk cafes, bakeries, and antique shops!

Top Local Tips for Carlsbad

Yummy pizza Most people like to go to Pizza Port. It was soooooooo loud in there. So we checked out a little "hole in the wall" called New York Pizza, just down the block on Roosevelt. It was fantastic! We got a pizza with that had onions and peppers in it and our 3 year old son even ate it!

Breakfast Must have breakfast at the Daily News Cafe. Be warned that you'll have to wait for a table but well worth it.

Places to Eat Definitely have to have breakfast or lunch at the Daily News Cafe. There is a wait time but it goes quick and well worth it. The waitstaff is friendly and the food is delicious! Another great place for dinner was called Jay's. We have friends who live in Carlsbad and they recommended it. Right near the Inn. Small and very busy. We went one night and the wait was way too long. We came back the next night, earlier, and was not disappointed! Great waitstaff and delicious meals. We even ordered a pizza to go! The best part was when one of the waitstaff noticed by daughter had the hiccups and brought her a to go cup of water and lemon . . . now that's service!
