Top Local Tips for Carlsbad

Where do eat... I would definately suggest eating at: Harbor Fish, Pizza Port, Karl Strauss Brewery, Cessys Mexican Food, & getting danish/donuts from the local bakerys...

Places to eat Fidel's is a great Mexican restaraunt. I suggest the combo fajitas or chicken enchilladas with the red sauce and flan for dessert. Tom Giblin's Irish Pub was another big hit with my family. They have live music, a great kids' menu, REALLY good food, and a pub for adults. Knockout Pizza had probably the most authentic NY style pizza I've had outside of New York with lots of garlic and a thin crust. Yum! The Danish bakery in Carlsbad VIillage is a great place for a fast, good breakfast or an afternoon treat. Skip eating at Legoland if possible. Way overpriced and not very good - standard amusement park fare at rip off prices.

U-Pick Strawberry Fields If you go to Carlsbad in June, look for the U-Pick Strawberry Fields. We ran into them by accident and it became a highlight of our trip! There is nothing like eating a ripe strawberry that had just been picked! Incredible flavor and the kids loved it!
