Historical Traveller Reviews of Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Hotel

Great deal!

from Vagabond23
We were surprised to read the bad reviews. We had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt. Yes, it was like a 4 minute walk from the room to the elevator, but other then that, it was very nice. We had a high floor corner room that was HUGE with a comfy bed, pleasant view and sparkling bathroom. We did not eat at the hotel, but the staff was very friendly when we checked in. We got this hotel on hotwire, so it was very cheap. Guess it is hit or miss, but we would definately stay there again!

Poor Service, Double Billed!

from A TripAdvisor Member
When paying for a meal at the restaurant I was presented with the bill of another guest. I had to request a copy of the credit to my account for the mistake they made. At checkout I was informed that my credit card was declined. Now, one day later I find out that I was billed on 09/03/05 for my stay which ended om 09/05/05. I used a different credit card at checkout because the original card I made the reservation with was declined. The reason it was declined is because they had already billed my card on 09/03.
THEY BILLED ME TWICE! Don't stay on the eighth floor either. There is a 24 hr gym on the ninth. Unless of course you don't mind the sound of barbells being dropped on the floor above you! I called security four times, between 10:00 PM and 11:15 PM before the noise ceased at 11:30 PM.

Internet access does not work - problem with hotel layout

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is a disaster on multiple fronts. They have a serious problem with Internet access, relying on wireless service from T-Mobile but possibly because of the location of the base stations, wireless service is not guaranteed in all rooms. They will even rent you wireless bridges that do not solve the problem. The front desk staff (multiple different people) were kind enough to tell me that it was a T-Mobile problem and that I should contact T-Mobile directly ("we asked the hotel staff to look into it, but they didn't have any problems"). Excuse me? This is a business hotel? The manager did not have the courtesy to return my calls.

People have already mentioned the winding corridors. I'll add dismal food and having to pay $15/day for parking to the list of complaints.

Good Airport Hotel

from JIMCHI
Good sized rooms. As others have mentioned, it can be a long walk to the elevators. Atrium is very pretty. Breakfast buffet is terrible and WAY overpriced. Residence Inn has a better breakfast buffet.

Good Value for Money

We stayed at the San Fracisco Airport Hyatt for 1 night in a regency club room. Room was fine, regency club very nice with complimentary food, drinks and internet. Check-in took 1 minute, check-out also.
Good vaklue for money.

Fairly bland and average

from A TripAdvisor Member
I got a great price on priceline - $40 for one night. So really I can't complain. But I'm going to anyway, considering that other people would be paying more like $156/night.
The hotel itself is huge. They have a large atrium which is quite nice just to sit in and watch people come and go. The free shuttle to the airport is also great. It makes a trip into the city really easy. The BART goes all the way to the airport, and the shuttle drops you off/picks you up right by the station in the international terminal. I caught the shuttle a number of times, and never had to wait very long for it at all.
The room was clean and pleasant, with a wonderful view of the second floor of the parking garage (if you like parking garages that is!). The hotel also backs right up against the highway, and you can get quite a bit of traffic noise. The noise from the corridors is not great either, but not all that bad. Luckily I had a room close to the elevators, but I totally understand what other people say about hiking the corridors. I went in search of an ice machine, only to find the only one on my floor was out of order. I thought I was going to be lost in hotel corridor land forever!
I requested a late checkout, so they gave me the room until 1pm. But that didn't stop housekeeping showing up at 8:15am to clean the room! Shame that I was still sleeping at that stage...
The bathroom was very large, but there are no night-light type lights you can turn on - so if you want to go to the toilet at 3am you will have to turn on the bright overhead lights.
In summary the room was fine. It wasn't very well designed (but then I had a funny corner room - maybe the others are different). The noise wasn't great, but it wasn't all that bad either (and I always travel with ear plugs). The neighbourhood is not inspiring -the multiplex they boast about looks like it might fall down with the next brisk wind. There was a Sizzlers or something across the road a way, and the hotel does have a number of restaurant options.

Great Hotel!!

from TravelNut
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while exploring San Francisco. This hotel was booked through Hotwire at a great rate of $53 a night. We were amazed at the quality of the hotel for the price we payed. Staff was very attentive and would bend over backwards to see if we needed anything. Rooms were very clean. We didn't try the in hotel restaurant due to high prices on the menu, there is a Sizzler right across the street. Had a great stay and would recommend this hotel.

Marathon march through endless corridors

from attimaus
We stayed at the HYATT for 3 - nights at the beginning of a roundtrip through california. As we read other reviews, we asked for a quiet room. We got a room on the 7 th floor - so there could be no noise heard from the atrium. Unfortunately is was a room as far away as possible from the elevators (there is only one elevator-pool at the hotel). So we had to march a very long way with our luggage through endless corridors. We are young and sporty, so that didnĀ“t matter that much. But I think, that elder people would have had some problems. I would not recommend the hotel for a one-night-stay with lots of luggage.
The room was very clean and tastefully furnished. The staff was professional and friendly.
It was a great bargain at Hotwire - but I would prefer the Doubletree (read my review about that Hotel)

loved the rooms

from A TripAdvisor Member
The room was great - clean and comfortable. Hotel food was overpriced and the breakfast buffet is a waste of money.

Watch for bed bugs!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The first night my daughter woke up with several large red bug bites on her body. I got her a roll away for the second night, thinking that would solve the problem. It didn't. She even had them on her face! They offered me $70 and ended up giving me one night free. My daughter, however, is still suffering.

Top Local Tips for Burlingame

Take the BART Hotel provides free transportation to San Francisco International. Get on the BART at the International Terminal and go just about anywhere in the Bay area.

Rental Cars in Hotels If you need a rental car for a trip around the bay area, be sure to call your hotel and see if they have a company within the lobby. Not only will this be easier then dealing with the long lines at the airport, it will save you on costly taxes and fee's that are associated with airport rentals.

Great Food Found a great breakfast spot in Burlingame named Stacks. Incredible pancakes and omelets. I would highly recommend Stacks.
