We arrived amidst typical coastal showers. The front desk staff we extremely warm and helpful. The room one of the nicest I've had any where and the amenities were more than sufficient.
Due to the storm, we had a fairly long power outage, so the front desk sent extra fire logs to our room. Did not do much to keep the room warm, but made for a very romantic setting.
The in-house restaurant is nice and prices fairly moderate. During the week and off season, you won't find many restaurants open other than the Tide's Inn at the wharf, so plan accordingly. Keep in mind the area is somewhat remote so nearby shopping is minimal, but the views can be awesome. Also at night and in the fog the tree lined street is very dark, so be alert and keep your bearings.

All in all it was a wonderful stay and we plan to go back soon. Very highly recommended for a quiet, romantic getaway, or just to feel a million miles from the city and relax with a good book.

Top Local Tips for Bodega Bay

Timing is everything We traveled late Feb (2008) during the week. Not a busy time. This is the end of the rain season so clouds are common. It was not raining but it was misty which was a nice touch. The day was on-off sunny that we certainly didn't mind. Not hot or freezing but typically cool in this area so bring a light sweater or jacket just in case. When getting reservations, ask about the complimentary wine and cheese hour. Typically between 5 - 6 PM but not sure if that's a weekly or specialy day of the week happening. It will be a great introduction to the rest of your stay. Eat at the Pelican! Yes - it's costly but not heavily inflated. The service is good - the food is great! Views out over the bay and only steps from your room. Otherwise, Bodega doesn't have much more to offer in the way of great foods unless you want to spend a lot of time driving and/or getting lost. This is a rual zone so one turn looks like the next unless your familiar to the area. Try the crab omelet in AM! WOW.

take a drive Drive around the area and see Bodega Head with it's breathtaking views of the Pacific. Drive into Bodega Bay and revisit the schoolhouse where Hitchcock filmed The Birds.
