My entire family just loves the Creekside Inn. It's within walking distance of all our favorite spots in Bishop. Next time we are planning to extend our stop in town for two days!!!

Stayed here once before, traveling with my elderly/ handicapped mother. We stayed downstairs on the creekside (you pay extra for this nice and relaxing view as opposed to the parking lot side) and loved our time here. We had a sliding glass door to a small private patio with 2 chairs and a small table, and an occassional duck or two! The slider has sheers on it, as well as drapes, so that was nice, too. Parking was near to the inside hallways - important feature for 2 women traveling. The setting is very pretty if you are on the "creek side" bank of rooms - for which you pay quite a bit more. The shade trees, wild mallard ducks, and of course, the creek! Very nice ambiance.
The rooms were average. Nice wallpaper touches, but really nothing more, nothing less than a nicer motel. You get what you get - remember, it's a motel, not a hotel or resort!
I later went back with my husband and again paid the extra amount for the creekside view. This time we were closer to the pool, which wasn't what I had requested when I reserved it a few months in advance, but still it was okay. The hotel lobby is beautiful and likened to a hunter's lodge with lots of wood, big windows, oversized furniture, high ceilings; very handsome and elegant. You will enjoy it. The breakfast is nice with a good selection of fresh fruits, yogurt, granolas, cereals, bagels and other breads, toasters, oatmeal - cooking in a pot/not little packs, juices, coffees. If you are on Adkin's - this is NOT the breakfast for you as it is carb overload! LOL Not what we would normally order at a restaurant but certainly similar to what you might have at home, so that's fine with us - saves time for getting on the road.
But now, at the rates I see for our upcoming trip, (Sept 2006/$153) I just can't see spending that sort of money for this place for an overnight stay on our way from San Diego to Reno. We wont' be there long enough to enjoy it and get our "moey's worth." I assume it's for the "parking lot side" of the building where your window will look out at parked cars and the trash area, and so forget any sweet ambiance from your room's window.
They are the nicest in Bishop, and I guess they know it and have adjusted/increased their rates accordingly. A lot of us don't want the lower class places and will most likely bite the bullet and pay the extra. But gosh, for a quick overnight stay, I just don't think I can justify it, not when you can find these rates at resorts (off season, of course). Supply and demand comes into the equasion here, I suppose.

On the way to Yosemite

A really lovely hotel about 60 miles south of Yosemite National Park. One side of the hotel overlooks the creek and very pretty gardens with a swimming pool and jacuzzi tub. The other side overlooks the car park but also the magnificent Sierra Nevada mountains. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculate. We had 2 queen beds which had a pillow top tied on to the mattress - soooo comfortable. Just let down by not having internet access downstairs for those of us without laptops. When we stayed in June they were still part of the Best Western Group but they were due to go independent from September 2006. If you are travelling to Yosemite and want an overnight stop, then this is definitely the place to stay. Bishop itself is a long ribbon built town but plenty of places to choose from to eat in the evening.

Liked the Creekside Inn

We were surprised about how good the Inn was. We were coming from Las Vegas and did not have reservations. The price was a bit high, but the other hotels had higher rates. The room faced a nice looking creek that runs through the hotel. The room was a standard room with a king bed and one bath it also has a balcony. Smokers beware, there is no smoking within 50 feet of this hotel. They make you sign a contract saying you will not smoke in your room or they can charge you extra. The breakfast was good it's located in the lobby and the hotel staff were great. I had brought my lap top but did not have a wireless card. The hotel is all wireless. They let me borrow one of theirs for free. Hint Hint ... Residence Inn and Embassy Suites. I would stay here again.

Nicest place in Bishop

I stayed in the Creek side in for 4 days over my April school vacation. I was in the area on business and randomly pulled into the parking lot. The staff was very helpful and even matched a price I saw on a sign down the street. The room was very clean and had a little balcony with a wonderful view of the Sierras. The price even included a hot breakfast; you could have fruit, bagels, yogurt and fresh cinnamon rolls. The woman that runs the breakfast area is so sweet. She always had a big smile and said good morning to everyone. She even bakes cookies in the afternoon. The man that worked at the front desk was helpful at suggesting good restaurants and where things were located in town.
The hotel has a great location. You are located in the center of town and you are not far away from the hot springs or mammoth.
I would defiantly go back.

For two years in a row we have stopped at the Creekside on our way from San Francisco to Tahoe via the Tioga Pass. A great place to stop. Great atmosphere, good beds, good breakfast in a beautiful area.

Worth Every Dime!!

We spent two nights in a creekside room downstairs on our way back to Reno from Death Valley. Super clean rooms. The "continental" breakfast was nearly a full sit down affair. Hot cereal, biscuits and gravy, french toast etc. WONDERFUL!! A bit more money than most in town, but well worth it. If I had to find anything wrong, my wife found one small sugar ant in the bathroom. We will be back.

Great Place to stay, Great location.

We went to Bisop for several days. Very nice and clean hotel. Staff was very friendly. Located in the middle of town, walking distance to most places. If you stay on the second floor, get a room by the elevator if you don't like stairs. Our room was not near the elevator so we used the stairs all the time, we were on the second floor and the elevator was way at the other end. We stay in alot of Best Westerns and this one was just as great as all the others.

So good we stayed there twice!

we stayed here for one night on our way from los angeles to lake tahoe and were so impressed we decided to stay there on our way back to las vegas. It really is just as good as anyone else has said before and we will definatly return. It's now our second favorite hotel after the Bellagio las vegas.

We love Bishop!

We stayed here after a very long day driving from Las Vegas via Death Valley. We pushed on to Bishop mainly because of the previous reviews about this hotel. The receptionist Shevann was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was enormous with a FULL kitchen-all extremely clean and well presented. Free wireless internet which actually worked,FREE laundry(wash & dry)which we were in dire need of. The security was good with key access to all internal and external doors. Shevann recommended Whisky Creek for dinner and it was great-good food with friendly helpful staff. We went to Von's supermarket and the guy on the checkout gave us cardholder discount even tho we did not have a card, saving us $30. The guy collecting the trolleys even came over to check on me when I had a nose bleed and offered to get me Kleenex!!
I dialled a wrong no from the hotel phone(yes I know you should NEVER use hotel phones but it was urgent)and got put on hold only to talk to someone I didn't want to talk to. The bill for that was $12 which the staff waived at checkout with no question when I mentioned I had dialled in error. How good is that??
Bishop just kept on giving!
If we could have taken this room with us on the rest of our travels we would have-we were very impressed all round.

Top Local Tips for Bishop

La Cantina If staying in Bishop, there is a little place along mainstreet (South of the theatre on same side of street) called La Casita. It is one of those local "hole-in-the-wall" kind of places that we visit everytime we come. I don' recommend it for kids as it is as much a bar as it is a restuarant. However, we always have great food and spirits while meeting the locals, who have always been very enjoyable. I highly recommend this little place for anyone travelling kidless to the Sierra. One added note, the salsa is incredible and we recommend getting the hot variety.

Great scenery Great senery in the winter when the Sierras are snow-covered.
