Historical Traveller Reviews of The Mosaic Hotel

Fabulous accomodations, even better food

from A TripAdvisor Member
Some friend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Mosaic in late January. The reservation process was easy, especially with the help of Amelia who was very professional and kind, as well as extremely informative. Other reviews I have read have noted that the rooms are very small, but this was not the case. I was in a standard room and it was very comfortable and just the right size, not to mention the bathroom was much larger than I had expected. The Bvlgari soaps were outstanding, better than any hotel I have ever stayed at. Also, we ordered room service the last night we were there, and the food was incredible!!!!! Props to the chef. Also, the younger gentleman who was there the first night we checked in, Phillip?, gave us tips on where to and what to do, and he was right on the money. I had no idea there was so much to do within ten minutes of the hotel. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend anyone to stay at the Mosaic. Especially considering you are so close to everything but once you step through the doors, you feel so far away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, eventhough its right outside the door.

Amazing Oasis in a town of plastic

This hotel was amazing. From the moment you check in you forget that you had traveled to get there. The staff is so warm and caring that they seem to be constantly thinking and looking out after you. They somehow found out that I liked Spanish Guitar (I was in town for a Tango Competition) and they had a mixed CD in my room when I arrived as a present. Extra mile? Extra thousand miles I say! And you dont feel like you're in some shi shi LA hotel where its all attitude, these people are very genuine and there rates very reasonable. Definitely have to have a drink with Armando, the bartender, who is so warm, and definitely talk to Roberto the Manager -- he seemed to be able to take care of any need I might have had.

Awesome hotel!

You get what you pay for

Travelling on my own last month I needed to stay in the area, so based on other reviews thought to give the Mosaic a try for 2 nights. Offered a good rate, but in fact rooms small, noisy (near the service stair), slight edge to the attitude of the desk staff and very limited food choice in the restaurant. Overall not bad, but the Peninsula round the corner does it so much better, worth the extra.

Very well done

A friend had recommended this new boutique style hotel in Beverly Hills mentioning it's close proxmity to all the shopping and restaurants.

When we arrived at this resedential feel property we were extremely happy, the rooms are very tastefully decorated with great touches, linens soaps by Bulgari, luxury robes. The bar and restaurant are set indoors as well as outdoors in a delightful little garden.

Well done!!!!!!!!!!!

Great little hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We like small hotels that are very comfortable and charming -- Mosaic filled the bill quite well. Room was large enough with desk and 2 chairs, linens were equal to best, bath was roomy (no tub, tho) and location was very quiet (even facing East = street). Pluses were outdoor pool area, small but comprehensive bar and dining, and easy walking to all Beverly Hills highlights. Minus might be parking ($20/nite). We'll go back again.

The hotel has a great location, walking distance from shops and a Starbucks right around the corner, unfortunately the rooms are beyond small; they make hostels in Europe look like a school gymnasium. The air conditioning stopped working the last three days of our stay, when we informed the front desk their reply was, Oh, thats too bad, sometimes it does that. If you dont mind cozy rooms and you stay here in the wintertime, its a great place.

Having read the reviews on the site, we decided to plump for the Beverly Hills Inn. We were not disppointed. The rooms were tastefully decorated and beautifully quiet and secluded from the hustle and bustle of LA. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Food was fantastic and the hotel was well placed for an evening stroll around Rodeo Drive. With a Starbucks 1 block away from the hotel, this made a perfect breakfast venue watching the residents of Beverly Hills go about their daily business. All in all a wonderful break in a vibrant city and the Beverly Hills Inn the perfect place to stay.

Little Gem!

Just wondeful, my husband & I found this litle boutique hotel on the internet and were amazed when we arrived. The tastefully decorated lobby the beautiful garden, the friendly staff. The rooms were fantastic with all the comforts frette sheets, bulgari amenities, I took a few home. They even offered free high speed internet connection, which is great for a fashion writer like myself. Overall top marks and the value was the best part paid only $189, will definately return

What these honeymooners thought

from A TripAdvisor Member
As reported by the honeymooning couple after their first night: Nice but small rooms. No complaints there, but the hotel provided only one dressing robe for two people. "Concierge" on the telephone promised and then did not deliver a comp service for the humble (aka poor) student honymooners. Paid close to $700 for three nights for them (not including the $15 per night parking), but could the fact that they arrived in their beat-up Acura with shaving cream wishes written all over it, have sent a message that was not well-received. $$$$ doesn't always equal quality service. Beverly Hills or not, the best service I ever enjoyed was at a Hampton near La Jolla.

Subtle Charm

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was in town on business, and my wife tagged along for some quick shopping. What an amazing couple of days we had. I was always well rested with the comfortable bed and decadent linens. Free high speed internet saved time, so I was actually able to enjoy myself during the trip. My wife loved the location, and was able to get to all of her favorite stores within 5 minutes walking.

Great little place with a lot of charm.

I would easily pay $250 for the room...fortunately, I found it for $179. Well worth it.

Top Local Tips for Beverly Hills

Crustacean is Overrated! Nothing special in this restaurant. The decor is tired. they have kept the lights very dimmed probably to hide a lot of its age. The crabs are ok but definitely nothing to go crazy about. The noodles and the sauted green beans that were served to us were very pricey for what they are.

It is Beverly Hills Dining in Beverly Hills is expensive and the "better"restaurants are overrated.

A Very LA Experience Make reservations for dinner at Katana, Robata and Sushi Bar. Ask for a table on the terrace overlooking Sunset Blvd. Great people watching and fabulous food.
