Historical Traveller Reviews of The Beverly Hills Hotel

One of the best hotels we have stayed in - ever!

from A TripAdvisor Member
At first we were torn between staying at the Chateau Marmont or the BHH. I am sure now we made the right choice (especially since the location of Marmont didn't look that great when we drove past). The most impressive thing about the BHH was the consistently high level of service - from the valet parking to the turndown service. Everything worked the way it was supposed to and when it didn't (like when we managed to lock our rental car with the keys still inside right in front of the hotel!) nothing was too much trouble for the staff to resolve. We certainly didn't feel any attitude or snobbishness from any member of staff, though maybe we are immune to that being English :-). The room was good but not spectacular, the gardens pleasant but don't really invite wandering given that is where the bungalows are. But for service, location and style make sure it's the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Stayed for four nights in September, room was amazing, very large with double shower and huge bath, more like a small suite. Service was impeccable, pool was fantastic. It is definitely special and in a league of its own, can't wait to go back, worth the 14 hour flight. Got a great rate by checking their web site.

The finest hotel in California

from A TripAdvisor Member
Obviously the person who complained about this hotel below me (charging for parking and a stamp) obviously doesn't get out much otherwise he/she would know that all nice hotels (even some cheap ones) charge for these things. You really have to live a miserable existence to complain about anything at this hotel. The staff could not be nicer; yes the pool service is a bit slow but everone else went out of their way to accomodate us. I took my mom their for her birthday and they upgraded both of our rooms, had a bottle of champagne waiting for us upon arrival. They watched as we returned from shopping the day of her birthday and brought us a beautiful cake to her room. If you want to stay in a nice hotel in L.A. with the utmost charm and character; this is it!! I have stayed in most every other 5 star hotel in L.A. and many in other parts of California and nothing beats this place. I have stayed there several other times this year and it only gets better. There are other "nice" hotels in L.A. but nothing like this one. I have already booked my room for my birthday in December and can't think of a finer place to spend my 40th.

Excellent service; mistreated workers

from misomeow
I stayed at this hotel with my mother on our first trip to the beverly hills area. I read of the amazing history and was intersted to experience what it was like. The hotel was gorgeous and the furniture was comfortable but the service wasn't...

It seemed that many of the other guests were snobby and treated the workers as dirt. It also seemed that the workers were used to it and almost seemed to be afraid when me and my mother tried saying "good morning" or "thank you very much" or even when we tried to hold the heavy door open for the struggling room service but they wouldnt let us in fear. Don't get me wrong; I have been to many many hotels and do like good service and attentive employees but this is unnaceptable!

All in all I give this hotel a 3-star rating because it was a beautiful hotel in a lovely area but the workers are trained to fear those of "higher class" and unless your a stuck up, snob then i don't think you'll be happy with the fake smiles on the employees.
(did i forget to mention that they charge you for everything! even to park your car everday, get a stamp, or even ice $$$)

Not As Good The Second Time Around

from A TripAdvisor Member
This is my second stay at this property. I was very disappointed. The hotel was fine, with no major complaints. One exception would be the pool staff. They were very unfriendly. I asked for a coke at the pool and it took fifteen minutes for it to arrive. I had asked the pool girl what was taking so long and she sighed and said it would be out shortly. A few minutes pass and she comes out and in a nasty voice she says "it's on the house" and walks off. The service of the hotel was OK. It was just average. I expected more since this was the second year in a row that I have stayed at the property. I can say that I will not be returning to this hotel for some time. I would say try it once. There are plenty of other luxury hotels in the great city of LA to try.

Extraordinary Elegance!

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in! It was absolutely beautiful from the grounds to the rooms. I stayed in a Deluxe room with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. The room was huge. It was also impeccably decorated with thick satin fabric drapes, beautiful furniture and the bathroom was heaven. It was all marble with a soaking tub and separate shower - every woman's dream. The service was just as wonderful as the accomodations. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be treated like royalty.

BHH is a must visit

from scfisher1
Stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel for 5 nights in July, and it rates as one of the finest hotels I have ever seen. The rooms were some of the best I have visited, and the staff was extremely helpful with my request for reservations. There were 2 items that were troubling - My father called the Polo Lounge to buy my wife and I dinner, but they never gave us the message. And there was no view from our room. Missing a free dinner in the Polo Lounge was troubling, but I'm willing to overlook it as the stay was truly outstanding besides this oversight.

The best hotel in LA

Amazing hotel- we arrived and although it took fifteen minutes to check in, we were upgraded to a suite with a roof terrace that made us feel like rock stars. Every hotel I stay at will be judged on this one, and so far I haven't seen a five-star that makes you feel as good as this one does. Worth every penny.

Loved it!!

I will never be the same again!! Staying at this hotel was one of the highlights of my trip to CA. It was exquisite. I took the breakfast package which included breakfast in the Polo Lounge every morning. The room was exquiste. I cannot even begin to tell you about the beautiful bathroom, the linens and bathrooms and the wonderful staff. If but once in a lifetime....a must.

An experience that will never be forgotten.

Awesome, fantastic, a true delight. Me and my husband stayed here on our wedding night in one of the cabanas on the hotel grounds. We came right from our wedding and arrived at 1 am. We were greeted by a professional bell hop who took care of our luggage and wisked us away to our fantasy suite. The room was first class all the way. It was beautifully decorated and every detail was thought of. We ordered room service at 2 am and it came promply and was very delicious. the room was very quite and private. The marble bathroom was appointed with the finest hardware and towels. It was a magical place and exceeded all of our expectations. Would love to go back.

Top Local Tips for Beverly Hills

best steak ever Eat at the Saddle Ranch on Sunset. You will never be the same after having one of their famous filet mignon steaks. The servers are fun, the atmosphere is lively, and the food is over the top! We even managed to convince one of the servers to ride the mechanical bull for us! I would not hesitate to return to this place over and over again!!

Taxis If you're going to the airport, agree the set rate $35. Twice we were charged the meter rate which was over 40.

Celebrities Don't walk around looking for celebrities in the hotel, you only find them by accident!!!! Also, don't ask the hotel if there is anyone special around, that is plain tacky behaivor!
