t Justify High Prices

from qaz123
I was not impressed with this property. We stayed here for one night on a road trip across the US. We stayed in six different hotels over the course of that trip and this property was, without question, the worst.

The front desk programmed the wrong room number into our keycards at check-in. We proceeded to enter someone else's room. Luckily, they weren't there, and luckily for that occupant, we weren't thieves, or we would have had an easy time with their stuff. The rooms are very poorly soundproofed--we were near the ice machine, which rattled all night. The public spaces, including the hallways, were unattractive and rather dingy. The A/C in the gym was not working, which made for quite an uncomfortable work out.

The only positive of this property were the rooms, which were attractively and cheerfully furnished for a so-called budget hotel. There was also a large plasma television, which was a nice and surprising touch. The bathrooms were obviously not freshened when the rooms were made over. They are in need of some attention.

Many of these problems would have been excusable if the price had been lower. Unfortunately, as it stood, the prices were very high--completely out of line with the poor quality of this establishment.

For the right price, I am sure this is one of the better options in Bakersfield. At weekday prices, though, you are better off paying less elsewhere. You certainly don't get anything near your money's worth here.

Not 3-star, needs sound-proofing

from suuzinSF
Priceline gave me this hotel under a 3-star rating, but I beg to differ. My stay turned out okay, but the rooms definitely need sound-proofing. A quiet, sound-proofed room is definitely a criterion of mine for 3-star status... and I've stayed in 1-star hotels with better sound proofing than this one. A family with young children was in the room next to mine and you could hear the little ones loud and clear. Thankfully they did tire out by 10 pm. No elevator, just your typical cheap continental breakfast. The lobby was nice but the room decor was just okay.

Lovely place to stay!

from jonuslove
Our stay at the Four Points Sheraton was delightful; the staff was friendly, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the pool looked inviting. Our check in was fast, and the room was clean and comfortable. The rooms have recently been remodeled; they are very up-to-date and exude a warm feeling. I would definitely stay at the Four Points in Bakersfield, CA again!

Nice but not GREAT

from travelingNP
Stayed one night for an anniversary trip. Front desk staff was very efficient, but not too friendly. Check in was fast and without problems. Room was average, but the walls are paper thin. On a Sat. night when the place was half empty, they put a family with a screaming baby in the room next to ours. Heard crying until early morning. Small fridge and microwave in room if needed. Bathroom was clean but not fancy. Products were verbena and very nice to use. Lots of great pillows. Just an average stay.

Very nice resort-style hotel

from sankar
This is a pretty lowrise hotel built like a small resort, with nice walkways around the hotel, and a decent pool. Unfortunately, I was staying in Winter, so I didn't really get a chance to enjoy the surroundings too much. However, it was a nice respite during a busy business trip to come back to surroundings like these.

Rooms are big with 2 queen beds (can sleep 2 adults and 2 kids comfortably), free wired internet, standard bathroom (combined tub and shower which could do with a bit of renovation). There was a funny smell in the room which I couldn't place, but it wasn't bad enough to complain about. Service was efficient and friendly. There's a van available which you can book for a free drop anywhere in the area. There's not much to do around but a mall is 5 mins walk away which has the standard fast food outlets and shops.

There's free 'breakfast' available, which essentially consists of juice, coffee and muffins served in the main lobby in the mornings. You pay extra if you want the regular hot breakfast.
Overall, no complaints and it's a pretty reasonable and comfortable place to stay.

Comfortable and Large Rooms

from BrownEyeGirl
We stayed here during the Christmas holiday and were pleasantly surprised by the nice large rooms and extremely comfortable beds. The building we were in didn't seem outdated at all. The area was very quiet too. We would definitely stay here on future stops in Bakersfield.

Oldfashioned resort style

from Buddy-Bear
Similar to the Four Points in nearby Fresno this is a hotel with the feeling and atmosphere of the sixties. Several two-story buildings (no elevators!) surround a large nicely landscaped pool area. Rooms are much bigger than usual nowadays. They look a bit dark inside for today's standards but they are well appointed and have the comfortable new Four Points beds. We like this type of hotel even if it is not the most modern. It provides a warmth that most hotels lack these days. We stayed here a few times already and never encountered a problem. But this time everything went wrong at check-in. We pointed out (and had asked for in advance) that we needed a non-smoking room with no connecting door. The first room we got smelled like an ashtray, the second had a connecting door, the third one was in a not very desirable location. We settled down in room # 3 anyway, only to discover that the bulb in the main light was burned out. The front desk promised to send somebody over to fix it which never happened. They apologized for the inconveniences and handed us a coupon for a complimentary hot breakfast - a nice gesture that turned out to create another problem because of the extremely slow and inefficient service in the restaurant the following morning. If it were not for these service problems the hotel would deserve four stars.

A very comfortable stay

We have just returned from a weekend at the Four Points by Sheraton Bakersfield. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Their bed was particularly comfortable. We expecially enjoyed the late check-out of 1:00PM since we were bowling in State Tournament and appreciated being able to sleep in. The pool was large and well maintained. We enjoyed the pool/Jacuzzi till closing at 11:00 pm, but appreciated security walking the area for peace of mind.

I recommend this hotel.

Almost a resort

from SBCCA
Stayed here one night during a long drive from Arizona to Oregon. What an oasis!
The staff was helpful and friendly and the grounds are gorgeous...a real garden setting with pools, flowers, trees, streams. Room was large and spotlessly clean. ..well back from the street so very quiet as well. Broad-band was free and worked immediately. Excellent amenities for this class of hotel.
We happend to be there on a Tuesday evening when they have a wonderful, free, barbecue by the pool....hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, chips and dip, soft drinks, free-flowing beer and wine...all of this by the pool amid flowers and greenery.
The free brekafast is not extensive, but the plastic-wrapped pastries are Sara Lee. Oh, yes....two papers outside our door, "USA Today" and the "Wall Street Journal."
I've stayed at Sheratons and Westins that aren't nearly this nice.
Also the area around the hotel is great for walking, very green and one block away from well-kept homes and a few blocks from a large shopping mall.
A great place to get out of your car, relax, and spend an evening at an oasis in the Central Valley!

I paid ($135) for this room and I could hear people talking and the TV from the next room. For the amount of money I am paying, it should be at least alittle more quiet. It was not worth the price I paid and wished I complained but didn't as I was there for only one night.
