Second chance, no cigar.

from A TripAdvisor Member
If I were a golfer, I suppose I would have loved this property. Being someone who simply enjoys above average places to stay while on vacation, I did not love this Omni property at all. Note: this was our second stay here this year. Our first visit was fraught with problems galore but we thought we would give it another chance.

1. Free parking or $10 valet, if you chose valet - the bellmen could drive you to your room via one of the many golf carts on property.

2. Surroundings were tranquil and well-maintained. I saw loads of quail and rabbits - a perk since I am an animal lover.

3. Comfortable bed with lots of pillows.

1. Staff too casual for a property that charges these rates. We have stayed at other pricier properties and were treated with a little more respect.

2. Bathrooms seemed to be an afterthought to the rest of the design - poor water pressure and the tub/sink needed re-caulking. One had to hold down the arm of the toilet to ensure a proper flush.

3. High speed internet in rooms closest to the main reception area. If the property is going to advertise this and offer wi-fi, then make it truly available in all of the rooms or offer high speed via Ethernet cord in the rooms that are too far away.

4. Staff forgetful unless it was a golf issue. We arrived early and the front desk agent said they would call our mobile phone when housekeeping had finished the room. After eating and then driving around to kill time, I had to call them to check on the room and was told "oh yeah, it just got finished."

I think this property might be better suited for golfers, older patrons and those wanting to celebrate something special. We were the youngest guests that I encountered, with the exception of some young men fresh from a Bar Mitzvah!

We honestly tried to return to this location with an open mind but even from check-in when they did not have the proper room that I requested, it did not bode well for our single night stay there.

If ever we find ourselves in Tucson again, we will definitely seek other accommodations.

great vacation spot

We just got back from the omni in Tuscon. What a great place. We recieved excellent service even though I bid on a room through priceline (which by the way I got a great deal - $100.00 per night during spring break). They honored my preferred guest status and we recieved 2 complimentary beverages per person delivered to our room each morning as well as a newspaper. The room was spectacular - 675 sq. feet with wet bar area, walk in closet, huge bathroom and a seperate sitting area overlooking the driving range. Pool was kept up nice with very warm water - hot tub was nice as well. We came with kids to enjoy Tuscon and its family attractions - Old Tuscon Studios (OK), Desert Museum (better) and Sabino Canyon (Awesome). Will be coming back again!

Perfect setting for family who love to golf and relax

from travelinggirlfriend
We have been staying at the Omni for coming up on 11 years aand for the last 4years for a month each year(12 days for spring break and 2 weeks at Christmas) We both went to school in Tucson and find Tucson National is very much like Tucson was when we went to school there. It is not huge but you know you are on vacation as the staff is always there to assist with any issue you have from extra blankets to the stove not working. We discovered the haciendas 11 years ago and find that they are perfect for a family with the large bedroom(with it's own TV),the family room with a gas fireplace and pullout couch(though they definitely need to be upgraded) and the kitchen whiich is great to feed the kids breakfast and snacks. The family room has its own TV also so there are fewer discussions about whos turn it is to watch what.
I have to agree that after 11 years that there is some upgrading to the rooms which would nice. One thing for sure would be to put a microwave in the kitchen, make sure that all the dishes are in place before people check in and improve the shower as it is very small and dark. However, the spa charge is included in your room rate and I go up every morning and shower, relax and read the newspaper. The pools are great kept clean and very close to the hacienda so the kids can go back and forth easily. The grounds are beautiful but they do start to cut the grass too early in the morning. At Christmas 2004 we saw that they closed the restaurant by the pool and the spa which is a bummer as it was great to eat outside (with a full menu) in your bathing suit and watch all your pool stuff. Now they have a limited menu poolside or you have to eat upstairs in the main restaurant. All in all Tucson National is been perfect for is not a 5 star resort but it does not say that it is. The golf is great, the spa is relatively new and very nice and you can't beat the price. We will for sure go back as it is almost our home away from home(we always stay in the same hacienda so the kids know what roomwe are in!)

badly in need of upgrade

from Regulus
This has got to be the worst Omni property. It was very dated with rooms and casitas, while charming, a far too "rustic" and in major need of an upgrade. The paint was practically peeling off the walls and we were unable to completely close the bathroom window which was a problem given the below zero temperatures at night.
At our arrival, the door to the room could not be opened due to the fact that the room had actually two doors and one of the them was deadbolted, a small detail the hotel staff forgot to mention.
To be fair, there are some good things about this property. The grounds are very well kept, at times, I felt they paid more attention to the grounds then to the accomodations. In addition, the spa services are fantastic. The massages are excellent and the staff is friendly. However, for a spa with this rating it is tiny with only a very small locker area that only fits 4 people at a time.
The highlight for us was the 24 hour availability of the business center which allowed us to print our boarding passes online and saved us a lot of time in the morning.
Bottom line, visit the spa and the golf course, skip the stay.

Had a fantastic time

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I recently travelled to Tucson for our anniversary. We usually stay at Omni's because our small dog often travels with is and they are pet friendly:) We had a wonderful time. The grounds were beautiful and the staff is one of the best I've encountered. We were upgraded to a hacienda which was like your own little house. The pool was lovely and the golf course was a good value since it was off season. We also took advantage of the four star spa they have there and we have no complaints! We were pampered like no other and definitley recommend enjoying a service or two. This is one of the best places to stay in Tucson. We will definitely be coming back

Quite nice

Just returned from the Omni. What a wonderful resort. Staff was superb and grounds lovely. We has a king casita that was on the golf course. Room was large, furniture attractive, bed comfortable. I was impressed and felt we were getting a steal. Normally stay at the Westin, not anymore. Love this place!!!

Not disappointed

Just returned from 3 nites (9/4-9/6), very nice resort. Got a good deal thru AAvacations. The bath tub was small, but since I never take baths at home, that was not a problem. Had a room across from pool, but was very quiet, until Tuesday a.m. when they started cutting the grass around 8:30, good thing we were leaving that morning or we would have been very upset. Staff was very nice and I would definitely recommend. One other thing, my husband had a sore neck so I recommended massage, but it was not listed in the brochure we got on the spa, although massage is listed on their website...guess we should have inquired. Oh well, enjoyable time just the same.

Very Nice

from HeatherSanDiego_CA
We just spent two nights at the Omni resort over the Labor Day weekend. Overall we were very pleased - our room was huge and kept very clean. The only thing that was slightly annoying were the "service charges" attached to everything. Each spa treatment added a service charge on top of the advertised price, and while it's basically a tip shared amongst all the spa staff, it's not actually considered a gratuity for your masseuse. There was also a service charge attached to the television Internet. Other than that, the staff was very friendly, the lobby was beautiful and the spa was just wonderful.

Could not have been better

We just returned from staying five nights at the Omni, and we loved it! It is a beautiful resort with the NICEST staff of anywhere we have visited. The relative small size of the resort was especially nice, but yet we never felt as if we were on top of our neighbors. We stayed in a Sonoron Suite and thought it was wonderful, with fantastic views of the golf course and mountains. Our one regret was that we were not able to spend more time here, since we were on the trip to look at property. However, we will be back and again stay at the Omni.

We spent four days there for a family function in town the only thing I could say about the Omni Resort was EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!! 100 times over the service from the front desk to the golf shop ,spa, restaurants . Not to mention they were very kid friendly . I can assure you will go back without question.

Top Local Tips for Tucson

wonderful restaurant experiences; great shopping at la encantada The Calamari salad and everything else at Terracotta. North was a delight.

Off 5th - Saks Outlet is Awesome The Off 5th store was full of amazing bargains! Even though it is an outlet, the staff were really helpful.

Tucson Mall Looks to be the nicest mall in Tucson, is very close to the Omni. Same stores you'll find at home but convenient if you need anything or enjoy shopping at nice malls.
