I had so much fun. They have a great pool. Horses. The rooms are outstanding and the food is great. We stayed over Christmas and really enjoyed the decorations and family feel to the resort. Great pricing made it possible to stay 6 days. Big tennis tournament and I was able to golf too. Recommended to all with 5 thumbs up!

Great time. Kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Food was good. No residents bar though. Was closed while we were there. Bit disappointing. Otherwise great resort. Definitely will return. Highly reccommended.

Great place, especially for families

We stayed at the El Conquistador for a week including July 4 with our two young children and vere very impressed. Valet/bell staff were immediately available and attentive when we arrived and the front desk staff gave the kids gift packs at check-in. Our junior suite was spacious with a nice view and plenty of comfy furniture. The pools are great for kids and there's even a cool 100+ foot long waterslide that's attended by hotel staff. The hotel had an impressive number of holiday events to keep folks busy, culminating with their own fireworks display. The parking situation could be better but I think that's more a function of being popular than of not having enough spaces. Overall I'd highly recommend staying there.

Great pool and view but not enough free parking!

Stayed at the lovely El Conquistidor last week, we had to wait quite a while to register and park what seemed like a mile away! The room was clean and the bed comfy, had to ask for shampoo though!The pool was really beautiful and the view magnificent. Our only complaint is that they really should do away with the four dollar bottle of water in your room and turn all that valet parking space into free parking.

After a long trip, it was wonderful to experience comfortable and clean rooms--not to mention excellent service.
The front desk was very helpful with directions and recommendations to local restaurants and not suggesting the typical chain restaurants.
One thing that made me want to stay at this hotel again is I got up to my room and forgot my key and asked the maid to let me in. She told me that for security purposes I had to go to the front desk and get a key and show ID.
Wow, most maids usually just let me in the room.
The pool and spa were wonderful, and the kids practically lived by the pool and water slide.
I will definitely stay at this hotel again because of the great service they offer!

Great vacation for our toddler

We stayed at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort and Country Club in March 2004. This is a perfect place to relax if you have children. The kiddie pool was perfect for our 2 1/2 year old to swim. It is 1-2 feet deep and has all kinds of water fountains. We were able to sit in the sun and relax while she enjoyed the water. The staff was wonderful to her also. At dinner they paid extra attention to her and she had a ball. It made our dinner experience wonderful. The setting is spectacular. The mountain views and the grounds are amazing. Although the staff is a little inexperienced, they have lots of energy and good attitudes. My husband golfed the executive course twice and thought it was perfect for a quick golf outing. We highly recommend this Resort if you want your children to have fun and want some R&R too.

We stayed at the Hilton and were very Disappointed at the lack of service. The rudeness of the staff and the lack of interest from the upper management. When you complain you get yelled at. Make sure you get in writing what you are promised so that you are sure to get some value. Overall a total dissappointment and I will never go back. Watch this place go down the drain.

Great Family Spring Break

Stayed there April 3-9, 2004 Rooms are nice, not extraordinary - had a regular resort room. However, the grounds (landscaping and views) and amenities are "best in class" (i.e. pools and slide). Service was better than expected (especially in the pool area) and food was above average - ate lunch at the pool almost daily and dinner one night at the Last Territory Steak House. Entire family (our kids are ages 6 and 3) enjoyed the stay. Would definately return and looking forward to doing so in the future.

Disappointing for a Hilton Resort

I was attracted to the El Conquistador property because the Hilton website touted the new water oasis. My daughter is 13, and we enjoy spending our vacations poolside. I called the property and asked if their pools were similar to the Hilton Tapatio Cliffs in Phoenix. I was told that they were better. When we arrived, we saw a small pool beyond the lobby. We asked where the large pool was. We were so surprised to learn that this was the biggest pool on the property. The pool was difficult to get in an out of, and the waterslide was less than half the size of the one at Tapatio. Not only that, but there is a daily fee to use the waterslide.

Even more disappointing was the level of service at the El Conquistador. It was so much lower than I expected at a Hilton resort.
When we arrived, the weather was dreadful; monsoon rains. We asked the staff for recommendations on what we might do in this kind of weather, and were given the brush off. In the room was an advertisement for family board games, available at the front desk. When we visited the front desk and asked for board games, we were told that there weren't any board games.

When the weather improved, we visited the pool. I asked for towels. I received a curt answer of "wait a while and we'll bring some out". This wasn't an isolated case. While some of the staff was wonderful, many were curt, rude and disrespectful.

The food poolside? Well, we ordered nachos, which arrived cold and were made with canned cheese.

Finally, the rooms were much smaller than Tapatio Cliffs, and typical of those in business-oriented hotels.

El Conquistador is not what I would expect for a Hilton resort.

Great familt get-a-way

What a great place for families to go on vacation! My husband got the vacation of a lifetime. He was able to take a week off of work with his family and golf. As he golfed, the kids had a blast in Camp Quail and I played tennis. We all gathered in the afternoon to enjoy the waterslide. One day we all hiked to take in the beauty of where we were. The room had a spectacular view of the mountains. All in all a fabulous vacation for everyone in the family!

We stayed for spring break with our kids in a junior suite. The service was great, the hotel and grounds were spotless, and the weather fantastic. The hotel was full, but we never felt crowded at the pool or spas. (Never had to wear a wristband) Used the workout room everyday.
We played golf at El Conquistador, Canada and Pusch Ridge. Especially enjoyed the Canada course. Also, we ate breakfast one day at the hotel, but then found a restaurant down Oracle Rd. just past Ina, called Millie's Pancake Haus. They had great food at a great price for a family. We ate one night at the Dos Locos restaurant at the hotel, but it was expensive and not that good. Lunch at the pool is great. Would stay here again.

My wife and I stay here last week as I attended a professional meeting.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Although, the rooms are older, they have been nicely refurbished and are very comfortable and spacious. the staff were very helpful and attentive. My wife took full advantage of the excellent tennis facilities

The conference facilities were very good.

We hope to return, perhaps to stay for a more extended period in one of their casitas.

Top Local Tips for Tucson

Tbe one thing you have to do It's a bit of a drive out of town, but the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum provides the best museum experience I've ever encountered. It's a beautiful location, at trhe end of a valley with mountains all around. It features animals and plants from the Sonoran Desert in their natural habitat. Everywhere you look, there's something wonderful to see. You need to know that it involves a lot of walking, especially if you want to see everything (there's a side trail where you can see more animals and plants). The restaurant is only okay, and is expensive, but that's what you expect at a museum. This is a great place to take kids, but adults will be fascinated as well. I plan on going back.

Desert Musem is a must See Don't miss the Desert Musem. Get out as early as possilbe when it is cool and the animals are awake. It opens at 7:30am. Old Tuscan Studios was a little hokey but fun and we enjoyed Sabinyo Canyon.

Try Lupe's It's north of Oro Valley. Delicious, fresh Mexican food!
