I travel to Phoenix often and have stayed at several resorts in the area. I like the Buttes the best for several reasons. One its near the airport, two its at several interstections of the freeways with access to about everything in Arizona. The pool has a kids water slide, pool side bar and grill, live entertainment and several jacuzzi's to jump into. My favorite is the "hidden" jacuzzi high above the hotel and pool area. Great for relaxing and hill top views. The rooms themselves are a little dated but I dont go to a hotel to sit in a room all day. If you are into MLB baseball, the far end of the hotel is almost in the outfield of Tempe Diablo Stadium where the Ca Angels do spring training. All in all, its a great hotel to bring the family. Not a huge party hotel and not too retirement resort either.

Top Local Tips for Tempe

Rent a car Rent a car if ever anything big is going on in arizona other wise taxies are hard to come bye its over a 2 hour wait. The hotel was nice enough to drive us where we wanted to go it was only 33.00 dollars which isnt bad especially for the time we went superbowl week.

Make sure you hit the dining on the roof. Great food! The Ceasar salad was one of the best I have ever had.

September Sept. is a great time to visit Tempe, although it is still very warm (100 degrees or more).
