Wonder introduction to Sedona

We stayed here on an area tour (Vegas, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Vegas) during our honeymoon in Nov. 2004. We were welcomed with a sign greeting us as newlyweds and had a wonderful king-bed room with a breathtaking view of the mountains. We were next welcomed with a surprise bottle of champagne on ice (fake, but we were happy, as we don't drink) when we entered the room and we settled right in. When we were ready to go exploring for the day, the front desk staff provided us with a detailed map they had created, and offered us opinions on their favourite places (shopping & dining) - all of which we visited and all of which were delightful.

The continental breakfast was fresh and flavourful, with friendly staff to assist you. The small computer room was in the same area and we were able to check our e-mail without a glitch.

A staff "hostess" was available in the lobby to help with any area reservations you needed. Because of the great map we received upon arrival, we wandered about on our own and didn't take advantage of the hostess.

There was a nice pool we also didn't have time to enjoy but which seemed clean and secluded.

The only drawback we found was the entrance to our 2nd floor room was around the back of the building from the parking lot and was up a flight of stairs - no elevator available. This was a small challenge with our luggage, and would be a bigger challenge for an older person or couple. If you are so challenged, I would recommend a ground level room.

All-in-all, this Inn had the best of a B&B and a small hotel all rolled into one!

We would stay here again

The Southwest Inn is a great midpriced place to stay. Clean rooms, great service at the desk. We had to change credit cards after the deposit had been charged and they graciously and quickly refunded the one credit card and charged the new one. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great; love the waffle iron! Iced Tea, hot tea and coffee available throughout the afternoon. WiFi is free throughout the hotel. The pool is small and wasn't clean, but we didn't go to Sedona for the hotel swimming pool.

Thank You Southwest Inn!

This is the second time we've come to Sedona and stayed at the Southwest Inn. As always, the concierge was very helpful in making our stay enjoyable. The rooms are well maintained, clean, romantic (with a fireplace & jetted bathtub) and quiet. Hey Joel, thanks for the informative Sedona Update e-mails that helps us to plan what to do on our next stay. We look forward to our next visit.

Success at the Southwest Inn

Once again, the Southwest Inn in Sedona offers ambiance beyond belief.
The private jacuzzi was a touch of heaven.

A warm and cozy beehive fireplace flickers in the corner of your room creating such a cozyness that I left it on all night -just the touch needed to feel special.

Breakfast is so relaxing. How often do you really appreciate the fact that your hotel cares enough to add the special touch of Fiestaware Coffee mugs to make your coffee a little more special? After all, you are visiting one of the more beautiful natural wonders of the world... This hotel enhances your overall experience at Sedona...

It's my favorite...

Much to be thankful for!

Our first Thanksgiving (2005) after the death of a loved one needed to be different and special, so we chose the SW Inn in Sedona and were very happy with the selection. From the moment our reservation was made the extremely friendly and helpful staff and concierge took a personal interest to ensure a pleasant stay. We were contacted at home and advised to make Thanksgiving dinner reservations early because many restaurants were closed. Menus for several restaurants were faxed and the concierge contacted us several days early to offer assistance and make suggestions appropriate to our situation. The restaurant food and service were perfect. The concierge also got us reservations and tickets for the Wild Animal Park and we appreciated the advice to go on Friday when the animals are most active. The SW Inn is conveniently located and easy drive to Jerome, the Wild Animal Park, Cottonwood as well as to the Downtown shopping and galleries. The staff were all friendly and we were impressed with how well informed they are about the Sedona area. My 7 year old grandson enjoyed the pool, which was open even this late in the year. The outdoor hot tub and in room jacuzzi were great after a day's hiking. The rooms were very clean, comfortable warm and inviting. Also quiet, no street noise. The housekeeping staff were hardworking, keeping the outdoor areas and parking areas as clean as the rooms, even on a holiday weekend. We appreciated the complementary continental breakfasts with great variety, including waffles. The iced tea or hot drinks in the afternoon was an added treat. We also found a nice Deli next door for sandwiches and lunch boxes. We wanted a peaceful relaxing getaway and I am grateful we selected the SW Inn. We are looking forward to returning.

Very Pleased with our stay

Joel and staff,

Writing to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the Southwest Inn at Sedona! Your facility was selected exclusively by the reviews we read on line at your site. We wanted it to be special seeing we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. My wife and I found the Southwest Inn to be an extremely clean, comfortable, modern facility with a friendly and helpful staff. All this nestled in one of the most beautiful areas of the country we have ever been! We cannot reccomend it highly enough after our stay. We would like to thank you once again for everything. We will be seeing you next time we are in the Sedona area.

Stayed here numerous times over the past several years, and have always enjoyed our visits. Clean, comfortable accomodations and friendly staff. Always our destination when visiting Sedona.

Outstanding value!

We received quite the greeting and were pleased to find our first floor king room just as advertised - spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The oversized bathroom with a separate shower and jaccuzzi tub arrangement was a pleasant surprise and the fireplace adds a nice touch on a cool evening. The breakfast offerings were more than adequate and the area was neat, clean and comfortable. The free wireless internet access is a great perk for those travelers who need to stay in touch - I paid $11.00/day for it at Loews Ventana Canyon later in the week, not to mention $9.00/day to park.
We found the staff to be more than helpful as they offered to arrange tours, recommended side trips and gave us some great pointers on dining during our two day visit.

All in all, at a little over $100/night, an outstanding value and a very comfortable place to stay. We will certainly make a return visit!

A little of both

from alpetor
I'm intrigued by some of the reviews on this site, but Southwest Inn doesn't deserve the pans it gets here. Admittedly, they oversell the place and perhaps this creates the problem. We arrived, and although I had arranged a reservation for a double-queen room on the second level, we had a first-level room , i.e., no private balcony. But a discussion regarding promised rates for room resulted in a reduction of per night fees.

The room itself was not as spacious as the floorplan on the web made it seem. However, it was beautifully appointed and clean as could be. There was a mini-fridge, which we appreciated for storing our yogurt and fruit. Once the door was closed, there was no highway noise despite the hotel being on the main Sedona drag, no sound of anyone upstairs.

Staff was top-notch and the breakfast seemed adequate and complete, if not inspired. We chose to eat elsewhere, but we often do, even though breakfast may be included.

The jacuzzi was a bit stiff with chlorine, but very welcome to hike-weary bones. The ten percent reduction for on-site purchases was a nice touch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. But I do think they push the envelope on price just a tad. All said it was a satisfying stay with nothing much to complain about.

forget about the free breakfast

from susanmcm
Stayed 1 night late August, room was large and comfortable, with a balcony and view of the red rocks, they promote the views on there web site, but having now stayed in Sedona I think most of the hotels have a view of the rocks. We paid $159 for our 1 night I think that was too much. The continental breakfast was a joke, waffle mixture for your to make your own, some bread to toast and a small selection of fruit. If we ever go back to Sedona I would stay elsewhere.

Great room, not so great view

from CFRN
The staff was very friendly, and the room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. I really liked that the vanity was not in the same room as the bathtub and toilet, which helps with four people getting ready.

The breakfast was pretty good, but not expansive. I was disappointed in the view, we had a ground floor room close to the pool and did not see much of the red rocks. I think we could've had a room with a better view for the same price. Because we felt so welcome, I hate to say that we will probably not stay there in the future, but our main reason for going to Sedona was to see the view.

Pink Jeep Tour Recommended tour--it's a bit pricey, but a good way to learn about the history of the area.

So Glad We Went When We Did! Went in late January, which was a great time to go! The weather was sunny and cool, the rates were not sky-high, and there were no crowds!
