Worst stay in Sedona, Noisy!

Spent two nights. Wanted to check out before we had even spent one night! The woman that checked us in (and checked us out on Sunday) smelled like an ashtray and her teeth and fingers were brown! My parents smoke but this was the worst I've ever come across! Then the place is under major construction. Checked in and wanted to take a nap. No way, they were sanding the railing outside our door with an electric sander. Very anoying! Cement trucks coming and going and construction workers everywhere. The traffic noise was awful and when anyone walked around upstairs it sounded like elephants. Could hear people talking and hairdryers going. Decided to check out the fitness room. Oh, that has been dismantled while they are under construction! No appologies. On day 2 someone told us we could go to another resort and use thier facilites and we would be reimbursed. Why wasn't this offered when I asked where the fitness room was in the first place? Pool is supposedly heated, but was still quite cold. No wonder no one was in it! Sunday morning we were rudely awakened by the fire alarm going of at 6:45am. No one knew why, the entire place ended up standing outside their rooms in pj's and robes and they couldn't even come by to let us know it was ok. A couple of guys had to go to the front desk and then let everyone else know. Then it went off again during breakfast, which is the only good thing about the place. So much for peace and quiet! Will never stay there again and recomend against it unless you have the patience of a saint.

Just got back from the sedona real and thought I'd write as the last few reviews have not been so great and had me concerned. I traveled with my husband and two grown children, so needed something a little larger than your standard hotel room. The room we had was perfect, with two queens and a pull out sofa and a little balcony as well. continental breakfast was included and the conceirge was very helpfull booking tours even before we got there and recommending appropriate hikes, restaraunts, etc. Its in a good location and everyone there couldnt have been nicer or more helpfull. The only drawback I see is that they are doing construction of another section of hotel rooms, but since we were only at the hotel in the evenings and were out of the room by 9 or 10 am we were never bothered by construction noise. I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.

We just got back from a 4 night stay at the Sedona Real hotel. It was great. The rooms and grounds were extremely clean. The hotel was very quiet. I never heard any noise at all coming from other rooms. The staff was accomodating without being pushy. It was a real pleasure to stay there and it sets the bar for future hotel stays wherever we go.

We spent 3 nights at the Sedona Real. King Corner Siute was great but the downfall was the traffic noise. Our suite was the nearest to a very busy road and we found the constant noise spoilt a very nice room. Beakfast was O.K.

Not as great as previous reviews indicated

Booked two rooms at the same time online. When we arrived, they were on opposite ends of the Inn. Refrigerator in one room did not work; toilet ran all night; room was located near the main street (noisy). Rooms were suites, though, as advertised. Continental breakfast was just ok in a small, crowded room, no atmosphere. Rooms were $190/night...not worth the price.

If you're looking for a place that is spacious and has room to accomodate a a group of friends traveling together or a family, I'd say this is a good place.

We needed a place that was located not too far from Grand Canyon and would allow us the opportunity to see areas in Sedona.

The concierge was very helpful to make arrangements for a tour (van that accomodated 8 people) to go to Grand Canyon. Price was good and the guide was knowledgable. With millions in and out of the Grand Canyon area, this was the way for us to travel, and we are seasoned travelers.

We highly recommend the jeep tour to Broken arrow area in Sedona. Quite a ride and what excitement. Go early in the morning before the mass of jeeps get there and before it gets too hot.

This hotel is not a honeymoon spot.

We weren't looking to sunbath; however, the pool is small and not a main attraction for this hotel.

Nice continental breakfast which included waffles.

If you have sensitivities to smells (allergies), please advise the staff before arriving not to use so much cleaning solution with strong smells and air freshener.

There is traffic close to the hotel; however, there are rooms with less noise. It didn't bother us.

If you don't want to carry luggage upstairs, please ask for ground level accomodations.

Nice large room including a fire place.

Bathroom (shower and commode) are separate from 2 wash basins which is nice when a group is travelling together.

Of the vortexes in Sedona, I highly recommend Cathedral Rock Vortex and don't miss Chapel Rock. If you visit the Chapel Rock, and there is a parking space available when you pass by the guard (below the Chapel), grab it and walk up the hill. Otherwise, you may be waiting in line for a while to get a parking spot.

This Hotel Not For Those Seeking Peace And Quiet

My wife and I stayed at this hotel I believe in the Summer of 2002. Originally I believe it was the price that attracted us to this hotel. However, everything they advertise on their website is literally a joke. The swimming pool is very, very small and the jacuzzi is small also. By the way, who wants to enjoy the jacuzzi when you have parents with babies in diapers in the jacuzzi ?

The fitness room was nothing more than the average person would have in their garage to work out with. The continental breakfast that the staff raved so much about was non-existent also. They advertise breakfast from 7AM-10AM. We get there at about 9AM and its all gone !

The rooms themselves were nice especially with the jacuzzi. They had two TV's which was nice because my wife and I could unwind watching our own shows. However, the AC was on the other side of the room blocked by a sectional wall. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us a box fan for our comfort, let us stay in the jacuzzi after hours and greeted us with a smile at all times.

The concierage ? Beware ! I think they are on commission either that or they don't have accurate information but although the activities they arranged for us turned out wonderful we felt mislead on some activities because of misinformation. Accidently ? Or purposely just to book the reservation ?

Bottom line, if your a family and on a budget this hotel is for you. If your a couple looking for a quiet get-a-way go to the Radisson Poco Diablo that way you won't get woken up from a peaceful sleep by a family of four at 7AM up stairs !

a very nice hotel with over sized room/suites. while pool was small it was uncrowded and very clean. concierge was simply fantastic and the continental breakfast was perfect for my family. would definately return. we stayed for 3 nights in june 2004

The Best of Everything!

We just returned from a wonderful stay in Sedona. The Sedona Real Inn contributed a great deal to the "wonderful" in our trip. Excellent rooms, great staff, great location and view, peaceful, very reasonable rates. I cannot say enough good things about this property. While all the staff was professional and extremely friendly, Megan Crawford was probably one of the most exceptional Inn hosts we have met in our travels. Thank you Megan! We found this Inn during a trip to Sedona from Scottsdale. We were very disillusioned with our Scottsdale location and stopped on the off-chance that Sedona Real would have a vacancy for one night. We stayed three nights even though we had already paid the full non-refundable amount at the Scottsdale location. I do not believe you can have a better testimonial than that.

This is a real jem: the concierge was very professional, and knew the best hikes, restaurants, state parks etc. She had detailed maps for us and made reservations for our jeep tour. The Sedona Real was a wonderful place to stay for a family: suite w/ 2 queens, queen sized sleeper sofa, mini kitchen and fireplace; continental breakfast of cereal, bagels, wafflels, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The pool was nice and had a view of Thunder Mountain. We enjoyed our 5 days there!!

Top Local Tips for Sedona

Spring break in Sedona and the Grand Canyon Avoid "uptown" Sedona and book in "west" Sedona. Uptown Sedona is wall to wall tourist shops and very drowded. West Sedona is quiet, nearby scenic drives and hikes, has grocery stores, banks and much cheaper fuel. Sedona is magnificently beautiful, be sure to catch the sunset from the Airport, which offers a panoramic view of the entire valley.

Good Breakfast down the street We loved the breakfast at the Coffee Cup which is about 3 blocks down the street. A WONDERFUL breakfast for a reasonable price. If you go before 9:00 you get a discount, just need to leave early enough to get seated.

Pink Jeep Tours Go on a tour with Pink Jeep. My partner and I went on two tours and had a great time!
