Sedona's best for value and location.

My wife and I have been to Sedona three times now. The first time we stayed in a pricy place. You spend so little time in your room in Sedona we decided to look for something else on our next trip and we found the Kings Ransom Hotel. This place has an old school landscaped courtyard with a huge pool and jacuzzi, an on site restaurant, cocktail bar, National Forest trailhead at the back of the property and within walking distance of tons of shops, restaurants and galleries. And all of this right in the midst of this awsome place.
Efficient, comfortable and well located

My Wife and I stayed at the Amara Resort in May 2004. It was a beautiful romantic two night stay. I would highly recommend any couple looking for a special place to stay to go there and experience the mystic beauty of Sedona, AZ. You have to see it for yourself to understand its beauty and the Amara Resort, made the experience even better. The food in the restaurant was some of the best food I have had in any restaurant in the US, and the view from the restaurant of the beautiful Sedona red rocks is breath taking. The bathrooms where spacious, and nicely decorated with a modern flare. Over sized jetted tub, large shower, perfect for two! The sheets on the bed had to have been 1000 count sheets. You melted in them! Bottom line, 'We absolutely loved our stay at the Amara Resort in Sedona and are planning to go back on our 10 year anniversary for a much longer stay.'

Great service at the Quality Inn in Sedona

from DPree
Cheryl, the manager, treated us royally when we stayed there in Dec. 2005.
Spacious room, very attractive grounds.
Great off season rates.

Good Place - but under new ownership, need some help.

from Thelrose
We stayed here one night the first of May due to the website saying it had a restaurant and was an easy walk to Talaquepaque and other shops and restaurants, and accepted dogs.

Our room was fine - quite nice in fact. We had what appeared to be a newly redone room, with great mattress, very clean bathroom and hi-speed acess. My sister and BIL however walked into "their" room and other people were in it, then they had to get another room. Their room was nice, but not as nice as ous. Turns out this hotel just pulled out of Quality Inn and is now affiliated with an online hotel booking. The whole place is being renovated. The new staff was not properly trained and the poor guy tried his best to help us but had no idea of what he was doing. The restaurant is closed for renovations and we felt the road was too busy, with narrow shoulder only, to walk anywhere. I would not advertise that.

The outside garden and pool areas are charming. Beautifully maintained and pool and hot tub very clean. If they get their staff trained and when they complete the renovations, they should have a very nice place.

I would give them another try.

OK but noisy

We stayed 2 nights here in April 06. The location was good, near a walk up the hill with good views and the room was fine. We got an upgrade because the hotel hadn't received our booking from the agent - considering it was an upgrade it was not that special. However, we did have free wireless internet and a fridge, both of which were good to have. There was a small balcony with a view of the rocks if you craned your neck a bit.
The main disadvantage was that we could hear every creak of the floor of the room above us, and it kept us awake much of the night. I would recommend not getting a room on the ground floor. I imagine the views are also better upstairs.
The restaurant was closed for renovation but it wasn't too much of a problem for us. Service we encountered was polite.

Avoid the Kings Ransom

from BillMilwaukee_WI
We reserved a room at the Kings Ransom thru the Choice Hotels website. I reserved a King smoking room with my charge card. It was a guaranteed reservation.
When we arrived at the hotel at 3:30pm we were assigned a room different from the one reserved. It was a double Non-smoking. I went to the front desk to ask to be moved to a room matching my reservation. I was told that no King smoking was available. I asked about any other smoking room. Again, I was told none were availble. I pointed out that I am a Choice Hotel member. The gentleman behind the counter said,
"Well, we're not going to be affiliated with them after April 1st."
I checked out of the hotel and into the Hampton Inn.
All said, the room we were given seemed clean but small. There is a shared balcony (with the room next door), which has nice views of the red rocks, however, I'm not very comfortable with sharing a balcony. The pool and hot tub were open and being used.
The staff at the hotel told me that they were renovating the hotel to be an all Non-smoking facility. The room we were given was obviously not yet renovated.
Not a bad location, but difficult to get in and out of the driveway, nice views, HORRIBLE staff.
There are too many nice places to stay in Sedona to waste your time here.

Quality Inn not that great but may be getting better!!!

We were on a family vacation and stayed in Sedona for two nights. We booked two rooms, one was supposed to be a king bed...there were none available. The rooms were dissappointing to say the least. Not new or clean feeling...definetely in need of redecorating and renovation. Shower heads were so far down you had to crouch practically on your knees to take a shower and I'm only 5'6". Also there was a hair in the shower which was rather unpleasant. We arrived late in the evening expecting to be able to eat on site....the restaurant was closed and not just for the evening it was closed. We walked down to the street to the Javelina which was great. Bright spots were it had a nice pool and hot tub area. We met a man who was working on renovating a different part of the motel from where we were staying, so if you stayed there I would recommend asking for renovated rooms. Sedona itself is great so no matter where you stay you will enjoy it. But I always enjoy myself more when my good money is spent on a quality room.

Pleasant surprise

from seatownsd
We stayed 3 nights between Christmas & New Year's & couldn't have been happier. Good location, pleasant staff, attractive accommodation at a great price. It was our first-ever trip traveling with a dog, so choices in Sedona were limited & we dreaded what we might find. Our room was in the "executive wing," where we were in an end room backing right up to the red rock--maybe because they feared our quiet dog would disturb others. Instead, we were disturbed by a constantly crying baby (upstairs? next door?). The pretty room was large compared to a typical room in this price range, with sofa, coffee table, & secure sliding glass doors to a furnished patio. We paid extra for a room that included a spa tub, & it was worth every penny. The promised Wi-Fi didn't work. My husband the software engineer wondered if we were too far from the antenna, but my laptop got no signal even when we were standing under the antenna. They said we could use their lobby computers, but both were busy almost every time we were in the lobby. The restaurant was closed down with no explanation so we had to go out to search for breakfast, but there are plenty of places nearby. The hotel is on a VERY busy road--had to wait nearly 10 minutes to make a left turn--but traffic was just as bad all over Sedona.

Kings Ransom is a Peach!

What a great big fat room with awesome awesome views!
The tub was deluxe. very clean. Such a great big room for a decent price! Budget deals are too often asty dumps-- this is how bidget hotels should be: simple, decent, clean, spacious. The staff was very generally very helpful as well.

Great restaurant

from banditNewZealand
Had a poolside room and I was very happy with all services. Within walking distance a many shops, restaurants and galleries; the on site restaurant offering an excellent menu and outstanding service. All in all the 7 nights that I stayed here were great and I would stay there again.

Good location, not bad but a little pricey

from firstkms
Normally I would have rated this hotel as average but the free Wi-Fi offered is a big plus in my books. I wish more establishments did. My wife and I stayed here over the Columbus Day long weekend at a cost of $130 per night. I thought that was a little steep for this average hotel. The restaurant is not bad and the rooms are decent size. Most have views of the red rocks. I liked the fact that it is centrally located although Sedona is not that big to begin and you'll need a car anyway to get around town. All and all, I'd stay here again if it was cheaper.

Nice view and patio area

from janistravel
We stayed here 3 nights in September in a King suite, a living room area and a separate bedroom with a door that you could close in between. Good for families or couples with one being an early riser as was our case. The room had a nice patio area with a table and chairs overlooking a courtyard and a very nice view of the red rocks. The room was fairly clean, although it had a bit of a strange odor that resembled urine. Our biggest complaint was that the carpet outside the bathroom door was soaking wet. We called the front desk and they sent a maintenance man to take a look. He concluded that someone must have let the bathtub run over and he offered to let us change rooms. We decided against that since we felt that this room probably had the best view so he brought us some towels so that we could sop up the mess. We felt like housekeeping should have come down to clean it up, but apparently there is no one there late in the day. The carpet never did dry. Apparently, they had a leak somewhere. We had to take big steps to get in and out of the bathroom so as not to step in the soggy mess. We also found the girl working at the front desk to be very unfriendly. The view, the patio and the two room suite saves this hotel from what would otherwise be a mediocre review. We would probably stay here again.

Top Local Tips for Sedona

great restaurant Highly recommend eating at Elote - but they don't take reservations unless you have a party of 5 or more.

Splurge a little Eat a Savannah's if you have a chance. Great atmosphere/food. A little treasure! It is pricey but worth it.

Rene at Tlaquepaque Simply the best restaurant in the United States. Don't miss it. Lunch is a great and affordable way to eat at Rene.
