During our stay at the Quality Inn on Lucky Lane in Flagstaff AZ, the first night we had water coming through the ceiling onto the bed! I notified the manager/owner about this and they said they had no other rooms available to move us into and would have it repaired later. In my walking around the buildings, I could easily see through the open windows that there were at least 17 rooms unoccupied in the same area we were already in! I went back to the front desk to talk to the manager/owner and he didn't have time to talk to me, so I explained my observations to the clerk. After a very long and frustrating discussion they miraculously found rooms available just 2 doors away. There was no apology or discount on our room charge or room comp or anything. They were just mad at us because we caught them in a lie!! We will never stay at Quality Inn on Lucky Lane again, and it's even hard to think about staying at a Quality Inn anywhere due to the way we were treated at Lucky Lane. It was neither a Quality stay nor was there any luck for us on Lucky Lane.

When I called the hotel inquiring about some last minute details, one thing that the lady said that really stuck out in my head was, "This hotel is far enough away from the train tracks that you won't hear the trains all night. At the other hotels, they will keep you awake all night." Not being too familiar with the Flagstaff area, I had no idea that trains were even an issue, so the fact that she brought this up to me, made me believe that I was truly lucky to pick the hotel that was not bothered by the noise! Despite the loud people who walked past our window about every hour of the night (which was not the hotel's fault), the trains were so loud that I hardly slept at all. Another thing that bothered me that a lot of cheaper hotels tend to do, is use two top sheets on the bed, rather than a fitted sheet and a flat sheet. This is one small detail that can really step up the class of the hotel for me. And it really is just a small effort to show your guests that you pay attention to the smallest detail. The hotel also offered a continental breakfast, and being young and moneyless we were excited about this! To our dismay, the breakfast was set up in a cramped room, and in a fashion that did not allow for smooth transitioning between entering the room, getting your food, and leaving the room. It was so crowded, that the only thing I could find to eat were a couple of picked-over donuts and some coffee. Not wanting to be in the congestion any longer, we took our food back to our rooms. I guess for the price, this hotel was okay. It did offer a blow dryer and an iron/ironing board which helped, but the small things count too!
