Historical Traveller Reviews of Fairfield Inn by Marriott Hotel

small, efficient, and DSL problems

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our stay at the Fairfield was pleasant, but would have been a lot better if the in-room internet worked. The wireless was out of range for our room, and the DSL port was not working. The system kept asking for a nonexistent password that Marriott tech services could not solve even after a 30 minute call.

The room is small, nicely decorated and efficient. The plumbing noises from other rooms was pretty loud, and rooms facing the north side get train noise. The beds were very good. The continental breakfast was very good.

Good value, great beds

Used this hotel as a base for trips to the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater lava flows, and Wapatki ruins (all within easy reach.) I got a rate of less than $70 on the Marriott website, which was lower than nearby properties of similar quality. The beds had good, firm mattresses and nice linens with fluffy white duvets (the towels hadn't been upgraded, but there were lots of them.) The outdoor pool (heated) was open, and empty, during Easter week.

Yes, the breakfast room was crowded, but we took our food back to the room. Breakfast included make-your-own waffles, yogurt, fruit, bagels, muffins, cereal, pastries--plenty of choices. The server constantly refilled everything, and the breakfast area was very clean.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful--offered to let our kids make microwave popcorn in their breakfast room to accompany an in-room movie. The front desk staff also accomodated a last-minute change to our reservation graciously, while allowing us to keep our excellent rate.

Great hotel, wonderful staff, perfect location.

Stayed for 3 nights. First impression and service at check-in very good. Room very nice & clean, if a touch small. Breakfast above average although the room where they serve it is way too small and hence breakfast time was quite chaotic. Lots of choices for dining close by and easy to access the highway, the road to Sedona (recommended) as well as downtown Flagstaff. It snowed one day on our stay which was an added bonus! Free internet access in the lobby as well as all day coffee & tea. Great Value.

Good value and excellent location

Stayed at Fairfield Inn for three nights in April using it as a base to explore Sedona, Grand Canyon etc..

Firstly this was exceptionally easy to find, just on the left as you drive into town from the south. It is within walking distance of a number of good places to eat. (Busters was the pick of these)

Check in was easy and the room although standard was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was very busy and the breakfast room quite small but the food was fine and it's all included in the very reasonable cost.

It's about forty minutes drive from Sedona, about an hour and a half from the grand canyon and nearly three from monument valley (perhaps in retrospect a bit far for a day trip)

There was a problem with our bill at the end of the stay but this was dealt with quickly and with minimum fuss. All in all a great base to explore the area and excellent value for money.

Perfect stay for traveling

The price was perfect for our stay as was the room. The room was well appointed, and exceptionally clean. The amenities are standard for a Fairfield as is everything else. I definetly recommend this property for a home base to explore the area.

One drawback, a very small bathroom, which can be overlooked by the bright lights and cleanliness.

Great place

The Fairfield inn was one of the hotels we stayed in during our road trip from coast to coast and some. It was a great place, very clean, quiet and very nice staff. The breakfast was excellant as well. We would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful location and value

Well worth the reasonable rate that you pay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is above average and the staff were helpful when we asked for recommendations for dinner. I would stay here again.

excellent spot

We had a great stay at the Fairfield Inn Flagstaff. Central to both Sedona and the Grand Canyon. The rooms were well kept, clean and the free breakfast everyday was great. Would definintely stay there again.

Great value - nice rooms, convenient location

from bayarea123
We booked a room here at the last minute. It was very reasonable (~$56 incl taxes). It was easy to find off I-40 which is nice since we were tired and didn't want to have to look for a hotel. The room was well appointed if small - it has a coffeemaker, hair dryer, duvet and nice pillows. It also looked pretty new. Breakfast included was the usual variety - bagels, muffins, waffles, OJ, coffee, cereal, etc. They have a small breakfast place so I can see how it can get crowded. We got up really early and had no problems. Overall, I would stay here again.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Fairfield Inn in Flagstaff. We had an excellant room. Clean, quiet, nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was a bit busy as they had a "full house." The manager extended the breakfast room hours by an extra hour. After the tour bus left, there was time to enjoy breakfast. Everything was fresh and tidy. The breakfast room girls keep things full and spotless. We were so impressed that I spoke to the hotel manager personally and told him so. Our only regret is that we didn't stay 2 nights. We could have easily visited Sedona from here. Next time we will spend at least 2 nights. Lots of eateries within walking distance for supper. Easy on and off the main highway and away from the train noise. Try it, you'll like it! Highlandsally

Top Local Tips for Flagstaff

Look around. And dress in layers! 1. Do not miss the arts and scenery in Sedona, only 28 miles away. 2. Buying native crafts from the artisans is more advantageous for everyone involved. 3. Be aware of temperature fluctuations, as much as 50 degrees over the course of a day.

Vegan Treats! For vegan treats and organic snacks, check out New Frontiers, less than one mile from the Flagstaff Fairfield Inn.

The Mall at the East end of town.... ...is pretty standard except for one fun thing worth visiting--the central atriium has a huge stone FIREPLACE in native american style that's not only quite nice, but toasty with comfy big benches and chairs for a cozy spot to rest on a cool Flagstaff day.
