Historical Traveller Reviews of Comfort Inn 117 & 140 Hotel

from Brent96701
Hotel was nice and very quiet. No road noise was heard and no noise from adjacent rooms. The heater did not work in the first room I was assigned but the staff immediately changed me to a different room. The complimentary breakfast was great - cereal, yogurt, make your own waffles, coffee, juice, etc. Staff was helpful. Rooms clean - no problems. Enjoyed the fluffy pillows.

Nice but can be noisy

from swtraveler2
Saw many favorable reviews so I gave it a try. The lobby area is fantastic, a nice place to spend some time. I found the rooms to be somewhat noisy however. The lobby area is open to all floors and if the lobby is noisy, like at breakfast, it travels down the hallways so get a room as far as possible from the lobby. Road noise is also noticeable unless you get a room facing the parking lot. Noise insulation between rooms is poorer than most places I have stayed. You can't understand the conversation in the next room but you can definitely know when someone is talking.

The hotel looks fairly new and fresh. Cleanliness was excellent. The free breakfast was better than average.

Nice place

Very nice Comfort Inn. Staff was great, breakfast was quite good, location was convenient. Would definitely stay there again.

Very satisfied

Stayed at the Comfort Inn for 3 nights. Staff is very friendly and well informed on the area. They have pre printed directions to many of the area attractions, restaurants, and shopping. Our many questions were cheerfully answered without hesitation. The room was clean and comfortable. A sink clog was repaired immediately. Breakfast consisted of hard eggs, cereal, fresh fruit a waffles. In addition there was pastry, bagels, muffins, and yogurt. I'd stay there again without hesitation.

Clean, Nice, Deserves a 2 1/2 star rating

The Comfort Inn is newer, on the west side of town, down the street from NAU, old downtown, and VERY close to walmart, target, kohls, and more shopping. There are other hotels in the proximity that are on par with the Comfort Inn, but pricier. We chose the Comfort Inn mainly because of cost( $71.96 plus tax a night with AAA discount), secondly reliability and cleanliness, and third, location. The outside of the property is clean and maintained, with a private driveway to the hotel which sits well above the street, so there is no traffic noise.
The pool is small, has 2 jacuzzis, but we didn't go in. The staff was always very friendly and polite, that includes the housekeeping staff. No problems with the bill. Your stay includes a free breakfast daily. You can make your own belgian waffles, eat pastry, cereal, fruit, etc. Not a total "complete" breakfast, but very impressive. All the food was fresh and well stocked. If you're on a budget, you can get fruit, yogurt, and make a pb'n j for lunch. There is a fireplace lounge and dining area.
We got the suite room, which had 2 queens, a 4 person table, apt size fridge, tiny microwave, coffee maker, bar sink, and storage. It suited us just fine. We had the very first room on the first floor so we did hear suitcase wheels and conversation outside the room and at the hotel entrance. It did not bother us, but if you want silence then get another room. We had the proximity to the front desk, breakfast area, and ice machine, so it was nice and very convenient.
The room was standard, clean, no frills. We had enough linens, and pillows, and toiletries. Housekeeping came daily. There was no excessive dirt or anything in the corners or behind and under the mattresses(yes, I always check), no bedbugs or any critters. The bathroom needs some modification. The door cannot be closed after sitting on the toilet, or be opened fully , and really needs to just be taken off. The toilet should be changed out to a handicapped height(we felt like we were using a preschool potty). The tub/shower combo was standard and sufficient. Soft water, always hot. Bathroom sink was outside. Standard single sink, just enough counter space. Didn's use the hotel phone, so cannot comment on that. The usual cable channels. Otherwise pleasant experience here, and would absolutely stay here again.

Great value for the money

Stayed at the Comfort Inn during a trip from Sonoma County to Santa Fe, NM. After 13 hours in the car, it was a delight to find an easy check-in process, a comfortable room and helpful staff. While there are many hotels in Flagstaff, this one will be at the top of my list. It is surrounded by many good restaurants and has easy access from I-17 and I-40.

great staff

Great staff, Good breakfast, Good bed. Large room. Overall good value. Room could use some freshening up. would have stayed there another night but decided to drive home.

Pretty good value

This was a good stay for the money. It was close to a lot of things ranging from restaurants to Walmart! We had great housekeeping for the 2 days we were there, and the hot breakfast was delicious--make your own Belgian waffles!! The staff seemed willing to help in any way. The place was clean, but the carpets were pretty well-worn and stained. My main complaint was the lack of a mini-refrigerator. I love having one in the room, just to hold a couple of soft drinks. Otherwise, it wasn't anything to write home about, but certainly not bad at all. We would stay there again.

Good for families and great breakfast!

My three kids and I stayed at the Comfort Inn on our way through Flagstaff. I read the post about the elevator being under construction (it still is) and booked a queen suite on the bottom floor. We had more than enough room and a large table with four chairs. The pool was nice, and the breakfast was really enjoyable. I would definitely stay there again.

We moved to this hotel on our second night in Flagstaff because of problems with the Radisson. We called that morning and requested a room with a refrigerator. WOW. The largest room we have ever stayed in. A table that seated 4. A kitchenette with sink, microwave and refrigerator. Spacious and newly decorated. Comfy beds-even the rollaway was good according to my teenage son. We loved the lobby area and also spent time playing a game and reading. Free desktop internet(2computers) for my teens. Breakfast included with wonderful belgian waffles, huge muffins and even hard boiled eggs. I wish that other hotels would tour this one and LEARN how to please guests!

Top Local Tips for Flagstaff

Eating Everything during any NAU activity is overbooked and the town simply can't handle any overflow from I-40. There's really not anywhere else to stay. Maybe stay in the closest town and plan your trip the next morning to Flagstaff.

Lowell Observatory Our family enjoyed this observatory. They discovered Pluto from this observatory. They sometimes have night-time viewings. We went on a scheduled night time viewing of the meteor shower, but because of the cloud cover that night, they were not able to see it. Instead, they showed us Jupiter. There is a nice view of the City from their property.

Grand Canyon / Sedona Grand CAnyon met all expectation and more Sedona area less grand BUT still spectacular Not planned to go to Sedona area but glad I did Also tourist office in flagstaff extremely helpful
