mid September = savings During the big, summer tourist season, air/hotel/car rates skyrocket. If you don't mind temperatures in the 50's, and want to save some dough, plan your trip for the second or third week of September. Most of the tourists will be long gone, and lodging prices plummet. Don't wait past the third week, because when the tourist attractions close up for the season, Fairbanks gets awful quiet.

Best Thai Food Ever Pad Thai on 3400 College Rd. I've never eaten better Thai food. Really friendly people, a nice small restaurant. You get a lot of food and it is not expensive (around $11 per meal).
