Business Trip A Success

I had to go to Fairbanks, Alaska on business, but it was in the summer during the tourist season, when all the major hotels charge an arm and a leg. I own my own business, and naturally don't want to pay through the nose, just to have a room to sleep in for a week, which I would spend little time in, as business would have me gone all day, anyhow.

I was lucky that the hotel I booked at was overbooked, and I could not stay there, because I discovered the Klondike Motel, while looking for some place else to stay. I regular motel like the Klondike was just what I wanted, and I'm glad I found it. I rented a car, and was able to park it right out in front of the door to my room. I got a room with a living room/dinette/kitchenette and a bedroom, and a bathroom. I really didn't need a kitchenette, but I did use it to heat up some frozen food that I bought. A Safeway supermarket is within walking distance (about 2 minutes), so that was handy. Also, I was about a five minute walk from a Fred Meyer department store. The Fred Meyers has a hot bar, and tables to sit and eat. So, I was able to have breakfast there, when they opened at 7:00 a.m. I did eat there a few nights, and once at lunch.

Unfortunately, when I was there the Klondike's own restaurant & lounge was closed for renovations, but I could see through the open door that it must be a nice place.

It looks like I will have to return to Fairbanks in November, and again next July. When I do, I plan to stay at the Klondike again.

Oh, anybody who visits Fairbanks just has to eat at The Pumphouse restaurant, not only for dinner but also for their spectacular Sunday brunch. I swear that Sunday brunch at The Pumphouse is worth flying to Alaska for, and I wouldn't have known about it, if the nice folks at the Klondike hadn't gone out of their way to tell me where to go and what to see, in my leisure time. I didn't get to play tourist on my first trip, but when I go back, I will schedule extra time for that. From what I learned from the folks at the Klondike, I'm sorry I didn't know before I went how much there is to see and do there. Not only did the Klondike help make my business trip a success they also helped make my off time enjoyable, by their recommendations. It would be a pleasure to recommend the Klondike anytime.

My girlfriend and I were tourist to Fairbanks, the hotel we first made reservations screwed up, and we didn't have a room. So we called around, and Klondike Inn had a room available. We were told that it wasn't great, but we had no choice. So we checked it out, and we are glad that we did. This place is decent, and affordable. We ended up staying a week there, plus received a free night. For the price, it was quiet and alright. Nice people there. I would take a vacation to Fairbanks, and stay here.
Don't stay there!

Price...$89 plus tax and a $10 Key Deposit (a first for me)
Location: OK...there are other places near that are both cheaper and better Rooms: HORRIBLE!!!!!...dirty, beds old and saggy, holes had been kicked in the doors and walls, and the room (it was -30 outside that night) was cold in the room. They couldn't turn up the heat, and wouldn't even provide extra blankets, and wouldn't refund our money. I would never stay there again, and would not recommend it to anyone. STAY AWAY!
