Excursions We Recommend Ketchikan: Reopes and zip line. Just make sure to be properly clothed, it's quite chilly up there if you go early in the year like we did. Juneau; Helicopter ride to Mendenhall Glacier. Although it was a very short time that you get to spend on the actual glacier, it's a beautiful perspective and worth the money. Skagway: Train ride. We heard a lot of excellent comments about it and it picks up and drops off right in front of the boat.
