Historical Traveller Reviews of Inlet Tower Hotel & Suites
Rude staff turned me off...
Recently stayed at the Inlet Tower and Suites a total of three nights (two before and one after a weeklong backcountry tour of Alaska).
The IT has been recently upgraded. Rooms were big, although my view both times were over an adjacent apartment building which recently burned. The upper flowers have one window A/C unit, whereas the lower floors do not.
My main issue was with the evening desk staff. Checking in both times on a Friday evening, the clerk was mean, edgy, and downright rude. The daytime staff was helpful enough, so this may be limited to just the one person. However, when I asked questions of the daytime staff, they did not know the answers (e.g. where could I catch the shuttle to the Zoo).
There are other places to stay in Anchorage, and next time I am there, I will try a few of them instead.

discreet hotel, short drive from downtown anchorage. Rooms were clean, spacious, with fridge, micro, sink, separate dining table, ample free parking. Our hotel price, which also was a bargain, included complimentary breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which was way more than we bargained for...not your typical continental breakfast... we feasted on a breakfast buffet of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, juice and coffee. When booking, ask if breakfast is included, as I noticed some guests had to pay $13 . I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Dear coco040, I am always delighted to hear from our guest. It pleases us when our guests expectations are met at such a high level. That is our goal to achieve the highest standard of customer service excellence. We hope you come visit us again when you are back in Anchorage.
Liked it, but too far from shopping
We stayed here one night after our Alaska cruise and found it to be sufficient. Not great not bad. Shuttle to airport was handy as was grocery store on corner but the main problem was the walk to most shops/visitor center was too LONG.(15min walk) Next time I would stay on 4th or 5th.
Dear nopetsal, Thank you for choosing Inlet Tower and Suites Hotel during your stay in Anchorage. We appologize that your shopping experience was challenging for you. We do offer a free shuttle for our guest, which should have been offered to you at check in. We are here to meet your expectations and look forward to exceeding them on your next visit to the Inlet Tower and Suites Hotel. Thank you for your comments.
We had a corner room on the top floor and watched the sun attempt to set from our bed about 1am. You can see the entire Cook Inlet. There was a fridge and microwave. So clean and comfortable, I felt right at home. There is also a coupon for a free night in the toursaver. They also have AAA discounts and give bonus Alaska Airlines miles.

I have only been there once this winter - but stayed there almost every 2 weeks last winter. It was a little rough during their remodel - but it is great now. I always found the staff friendly and theplace has been clean.
. . . I plan to stay there again.
Greetings loyal guest, We are so glad that we can be a part of your vacation in Alaska and I want to thank you for your patience during our hotel rennovation in 2006. We are very pleased with the results and hope that you will continue to make the Inlet Tower and Suites your vacation destination. Again, Thank you.
The Inlet is THE place to stay

We stayed at the Inlet Hotel Tower & Suites during the Midnight Sun Mayors Marathon. I was at first a little concerned because I knew of no one that had stayed there and it was a couple blocks outside of what was considered the downtown area. When we arrived, we found out from numerous people that this is where the locals prefer to stay, and for good reason. The staff provided excellent customer service (even offering us rides to different areas when the drivers were available), and Mick's At the Inlet Restaurant is one of the best restaurants Anchorage has to offer. The next time we're in Anchorage, we will without a doubt stay there. The prices are more than reasonable, and the customer service is some of the best we've ever received at a hotel.
Dear guest, We are proud of our staff for giving consistant top shelf customer service. We strive to meet all of our guests expectations and exceed them. Your review means so much. Please come visit us again when you are in the City.
Great stay if a discount price

We stayed at the inlet in late August, 2005. I found the room "on special" for $99. It was clean and well worth the price, although I would have expected more at their regular price of $150+. The room had a window AC that worked well. Our only complaint was that the rain we had beat hard against the AC unit just outside the window. It was difficult to sleep during that hour or so.
One other thing. The TV had a large array of cable stations, including two or three porn stations. They are just there, and popped up during channel surfing without purchase. I could find no way to block them. Be prepared for a shock!

Stay High (for Anchorage!)

In relatively low-rise Anchorage, the high floor rooms in this mini-tower have nice views. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from downtown. It has moody, cool-looking lobby, but the rooms are much less spiffy. The bathroom, in particular, was small and old fashioned. The room seemed tired, too. Air conditioning would be nice at this price!
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your concerns during your stay at the Inlet Tower Hotel and Suites. Your comments have been addressed and many resolved. We have completed some necessary upgrades including ;air conditioners in all of our rooms and a remodeled of the lobby and entry way. We hope you will visit us again and give us the opportunity to meet or exceed your expectations.
My husband and I stayed here at the tail end of our two week Alaskan adventure in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversay. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
First of all, there is no air conditioning. Like one other reviewer has stated, a/c in Alaska in July might not be necessary. But the only way to get ventilation into the room is to leave the windows open. This hotel is on a major street with serious traffic. You heard every car, bus, truck, motorcyle, ambulance, etc. Plus, since it doesn't get dark until midnight you have to pull the shades down to sleep which negates any air flow at all.
Secondly, the hotel was supposedly "recently renovated". Well the wallpaper in our bathroom was peeling, the caulking around the tub was pulling away, and the baseboard coving looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months.
The staff was cordial (but everyone in Alaska was great), but when we called down to inquire about the a/c, we were told we'd have to take it up with our travel agent. Now, my husband travels extensively for business (several times a month). I frequently accompany him. This hotel was no where near what we are accustomed to.
Before our trip into Denali, we spent one night at Aspen Suites. Much better. Huge 2 rooms suites with full kitchen.
We won't return to the Inlet Tower.
Nice Place and People
This is a nice hotel right on the edge of downtown. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The room was a bit crowded, but clean. The "kitchen" area made this a great place if you are travelling with children or keep late nights/early mornings when finding a restaurant is inconvenient.
I was not given the whirlpool room i reserved online and was only given the explanation that sometimes the online system makes errors. I did have a great view of the water and an elementary school with a wonderful playground.
Tranportation was provided in a timely manner with a great big smile to the hotel from the airport (even though i arrived very early in the morning), downtown areas to catch sight-seeing tours, as well as the Anchorage-Fairbanks Shuttle.
I will stay there when I return next year. It was a good experience.
