Being the 2nd week of February and having come from Ohio, I thought that I died and went to heaven for $40./night. The flowers, the gardens, walkways, pools, everything about this place is great. It was considered off season and there were only a handful of guests. Nestled amongst avacado orchards and situated on the hillside overlooking Uruapan, and with extinct volcanoes making up the skyline, the view never got old. Down in Uruapan, which is over 400 years old, The hustle and bustle harkens back to the United states of the early fifties, with a store on every corner, shops that actually fix things and the smell of pre-pollution controlled cars.
The hotel restaurant and bar are first class. The only negative thing I could say, and we lived through it, was that NOBODY spoke English.
Uruapan is a city of 250,000+ people. Personal safety was never a concern and for the 8 days that we were there, we never even saw one angry person, including drivers. |
