Taxi's Be sure to inquire before you get into a taxi how much. Taxi's can be expensive & one time we got in one without asking up front & found out on the return ride the 1st was a bit of a rip. I wish I had learned about the bus system even though it takes you longer I have heard it is much cheaper then taking a taxi.We stayed at The Riu palace & were thinking about going to Playa Del Carmen for shopping & a ferry to Cozumel. The taxi ride would be $120.00 U.S. round trip for 2 people. We got the same rate from 2 different cab drivers.

Cabs from the airport They are going to HOUND you. You are obviously new to Cancun so they think you don't know how to bargan yet. Don't let them win! Walk OUT of the airport past the time share people and there will be multiple taxis and shuttles waiting to take ur money. Your objective is to give them as little as possible so you can buy more beer later! Just keep walking as they are asking u to pay $$$$ for a taxi. Tell them u are looking for a shuttle for $. They will keep arguing...keep saying no $$$$ yes $. They will eventually cave in after about 20 mins of this b/c a shuttle will eventually show up and offer u $$ for a ride. This is your initiation to Cancun, don't fail the test!
