Surly, unhelpful service not worthy of a 5 star hotel

My disabled husband and I lugged 3 suitcases down the steps in front of the watching bellhops. They had carried them off our coach while the airline staff were in view, but from then on in, we were on our own, for check in and check out.
Looking for a hospital in an emergency, I asked another bellhop if he knew where the road. Just glared at me aggressively and said "No!"
Restaurant staff homed in on my husband when we went to sit down in the restaurant, as if to turf him out, until we could show the correct paperwork. Could it be they considered his skin colour too dark to be in a 5 star hotel?
Suitcase lugging episode was repeated on check-out.
Avoid if you're looking either for 5 star service or south of the border hospitality, though you might just go for it for a cultural experience.

The breakfast buffet was very good, at least!

Life in TJ Never take a Yellow cab, use Taxi Libre and set price in advance. Be careful what you eat and drink. DO NOT go out at night or visit tourist areas where potential victims congregate. Register with the Consulate before you go and make photocopies of your documents and credit cards. NEVER use an ATM. Place restrictions and alerts on your debit/credit cards. Have a viable "Plan B" in place in case you are robbed of all your money, wallet and ID. NEVER drive your own car in Mexico. NEVER venture out in public alone even short trips.
