Misc Info about Tepoztlan If you're staying in Cuernavaca, save yourself trouble and time and just take a taxi here, very inexpensive for door-to-door service. We recommend staying at Nican Mo Calli hotel, room #8. Your balcony looks right at the gorgeous cliffs, and you can see the Tepozteco pyramid. Most things are closed Monday, many on Tuesday. The town is quiet through Thursday. Weekends are a zoo, but if you're into shopping at tiangui's (small vendor stalls) you'll be in heaven, they take over the town. If you want to climb up the cliffs to the pyramid, do it mid-week, it's a throng of people heading up a slippery steep trail on weekends. Eat at El Brujo, it's fun and staff is terrific, one of the very few bi-lingual places. Be sure to visit the ex-Convent, a huge church/monastery type building with a museum inside. They're also doing restoration on some rooms and you can see the process. The bookstore there is great.

Taking taxis so you don't get taken Ask how much taxi fare will be before you get it. Here, as well as in many places in Mexico, the fare may be inflated if you are not a local. Ask around to others for the normal rate first, then try to get a cab. If the driver says a fare much different, take a different cab.
