Buses in and out of town are terrific, and cheap! Visit the bus stations well in advance of your departure. If no one in your party speaks Spanish, know that other languages are not widely understood, so planning ahead, with patience, and a sense of huimor, is a must.

Shopping for Silver You will of course encounter endless opportunities for silver shopping in Taxco - it is what the town is known for after all, and one of it's principle attractions. Personally, I saw no reason to but from one of the countless small stalls or shops set up all over town, where each proprietor will repeat in a tired, well-rehearsed way that he or she will 'make you a good price if you see something you like'. There are plenty of more reputable, boutique-like shops near the Zocalo that offer a far greater sense of confidence in the quality and craftsmanship of your purchase, for ultimately the same price and with none of the foolishness.
