Top Local Tips for San Miguel de Allende
It's true about the shoes! Wear comfortable shoes as the streets are extremely uneven and the cobblestones can be a bit slick. If you want to wear a shoe with a "heel" choose those with height built into the upper part of the shoe and a flat bottom. The uneven streets pose more of a problem than one might think because San Miguel de Allende is such a visual treat. The building colors, beautiful doors, and even the people make looking down at where you are walking highly unlikely.
Getting around Walk as much as possible and don't pay more than 30 pesos for a taxi at night. Take the trolley tour. Leave the tourist area and don't be afraid to explore. Bring good walking shoes.
Botanical Garden Great and friendly walk for all ages through the local landscape and set apart from the cobblestone streets of the city.
