Host / Hostess not what you think Beware of the Timeshare salespeople. Most of the restaurant Host/Hostess' are not employees of the restaurant: they are salespeople for the timeshare industry. Do not go to one of these despite the free offers for excursions. Not unless you like being held hostage. Many are gone for the entire day, get pressure sales pitches, and never get the excursion.
Great Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta We were surprised by all of the great restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. I'd recommend you get out of the hotels and see what's out there. Our favorite was La Galleria del Gusto (Italian). It is a small restaurant and feels like you found a treasure. The food was excellent! Everything seems to be hand made including the pasta. We had a great lunch at Cafe de Ole (I think that was name - I forgot to write it down). I'd also recommend Barcelona Tapas. We were lucky enough to get a table on the top floor with a nice view. The food was great and it's a fun way to spend the evening - what better than being able to sample a wide variety of food and sip sangria?

The staff went beyond the call of duty on many occasions.
If you want a quiet luxury holiday, however, beware. The hotel guests were largely old and loud. Very fixed in their views - if you sat in 'their' place at the pool, they got very upset. It's a boutique hotel, with a boutique feel, but guests that want everything NOW.
