Top Local Tips for Puerto Vallarta

Suprised by an extra discount from Vallarta Adventures... If you go with a travel agent, they'll fully charge an attraction tour such as Canopy or Swim with dolphins; however, I booked directly through their web site and found that if I booked 3 tours, I'll get 1 free... Cool, hu? but that's not all... I also got myself a 10% discount... talkin' 'bout gettin' surprised! I can't still erase the smile on my face :)

Do Not Book Shuttle Service with Vallarta Transfer/North American Travel! The four of us went to Puerto Vallarta end of August 2009. We were worried about airport transfer shuttle to and from, and read up that we should book ahead of time, as taxis at the airport might not be able to accommodate all 4 of us plus 2-3 luggages, and it might be expensive if we had to take two taxis. We went online and saw Vallarta Transfers/North American Travel offering shuttle service to and from PVR to hotel for $30USD per person roundtrip. It didn't seem too expensive so we booked the shuttle service. They looked decent, and we thought we'd be riding in a nice comfy van. Were we wrong! We really regret it! The only service they provided was to wait for you at the airport with their sign (North American Travel), bring you outside, and ask a taxi to drive you to the airport. We had to pay for the taxi as well, at least $10USD as "tip". The same thing happened returning. North American Travel agent came to our hotel, and got a taxi for us. What a rip off for $120USD total ($30USD/person x4). We found out we could have called a taxi for $15USD for 4 people to the airport from Nuevo Vallarta. The price is set for any taxi service. So if you are thinking of reserving a shuttle service especially with Vallarta Transfers/North American Travel, take a taxi instead!
