Fantastic!
We are going back to vallarta, in January 2008. This will be our 16 th year at Playa Los Arcos. We had awesome service, from the time we entered the hotel. The Porter's, Front Desk Clerk's, Wait Staff, & Kitchen Staff, were so accommodating. This hotel is one the cleanest hotels, that we've stayed in. We travel from the USA, to Canada, Mexico, South America, & Europe, and we rate this hotel a 10. Great price for the money, you can't beat it. In Jan. 2007, there was a mix-up in our room. To compensate, for the error, we were given a suite, with a balcony, and ocean view, at no additional cost. Maximilian's food is what one would expect, of a first class restaurant. Another thing to point out, is the safety at this hotel. The security, can't be beat. Whether, you leave the hotel from the dining room or the lobby, you will find yourself right in the heart of the action. Try going to a nearby restaurant, called Andale. The drinks & food are something you'll never forget. This hotel is loca...Read more

Great Viejo Vallarta hotel
Playa Los Arcos was truly a gem of a find. If you are looking for a sterile, spotless vacation resort, maybe it's not for you. But if you are a traveler looking to find a safe, clean charming hotel (and this is a big one) in the heart of Viejo Vallarta, please try this one! When you step out of the hotel lobby onto the street, you are thrust directly into the town (which I never felt unsafe in) of Puerto Vallarta, a very charming old and friendly bustling town it is. Within the hotel is a (very chlorinated) pool to play in to your heart's desire. The adjacent beach was FANTASTIC; the surf was completely safe enough for our entire family to spend literally hours swimming in. Our ocean view room (which we paid a bit more for) was clean(yet modest) and the staff (hotel and adjoining restaraunt) were very friendly and offered to speak English. From my week's stay, it was my observation that many of the guests are native Mexicans traveling to Puerto Vallarta from different parts of th...Read more

An excellent spot
Room was great - the weather was a little hot for me and the air conditioning worked wonders. Nice little fruit basket and a clean room. Couldn't get the hot water to work at first (and the maintenance guy was there within minutes ... this at 1 am) but I just didn't turn it on all the way. We had an ocean view room that has a lovely little balcony with bright yellow flowers.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. (and to the other reviewers ... it's FLUENT ... not fluid .. and most of them spoke english quite well.)
For the price, this place was sweet. We even scored a fourth night for free. Reading some of the reviews of this place, you'd think I stayed in an entirely different hotel.
I guess those whiners should stick to American 5-star hotels where their every complaint is met with some sort of freebie to placate their infantile guests.
If you can be miserable here, you can be miserable anywhere.
Thanks again, Playa Los Arcos!!

Don't let the Lobby Fool You
This place is a true dump. My husband and I Los Arcos tofriends of ours who were going to Puerto Vallarta on their honeymoon. Two years ago we stayed nearby and use to walk by Los Arcos. The lobby is truly impressive, very beautiful, and the restaurant, Maximilian is one of the finest in Puerto Vallarta, with marvelous food and a superb staff. Sadly, the hotel is a nightmare. Although they must have a sense of humor as advertise themselves as a hotel for honeymooners. Our friends were treated shabbily from the very first. No welcome, no special little amenities for honeymooners. They were initially given a room, which was absolutely filthy. Management did everything to dissuade them from changing rooms, but when they finally acquiesced, the couple was placed in a cleaner, but not much better rather dilapidated room with a very uncomfortable bed. The staff was surly and rude. Language was not the issue as the all spoke English and our friends are completely fluid in Spanish. T...Read more
