While sitting in your ugly and cheap looking room, you listen to the yells and your walls and door banging as the locals who are staying beside you party it up til dawn. my neighbour's door was kicked in and their stuff strewn down the hall. The meals were fair, certainly nothing special at all, merely cooked food. the beaches were a sore spot for me, literally. No hope of getting a chair near a pool unless you ran out at the crack of dawn, the beach chairs had no padding and were filthy. Would never stay here again.

Awsome Staff

Everyone if you would like an awsome place to stay in Mexico, than come on down to Puerta Vallarta and stay at NH Krystal. They have great staff and the staff just love to have fun with there guests. Everyday there is Beach Volleyball with free drinks for the winners (really its everyone). They also have Pool volleyball if you wish to cool down. And for you guys who like to do Arobics, well they have that also at 1 oclock and in the pool!! Now for you people who like to stay up late and party all night, like me. They have a night club just a 1 minute walk from the hotel. And on Fridays they have Open Bar (i lbeleive it is on friday) and on Thursday they have Ladies Night for all you party animals.

Nice taste of a quaint, disappearing Mexico small beach resort

This was our fourth stay at Krystal Vallarta and had another great time. From reading some of the reviews here,I wonder what their attitude was toward staff. This is Mexico, not USA. There are always expections to an excellent staff, and one's attitude going in does have an effect on the outcome. We enjoy most of the staff very much and find them exceptionally helpful with minor exception.
The Krystal Vallarta is an older place that could have been better kept although very major renovations are ongoing now. The beautiful grounds where the palm trees are still taller than the buildings, create a nice relaxed atmosphere. Days for this type of small beachfront resort are numbered. The 20 plus story condo/apartments and high density hotels are springing up all around this area and it's only a matter of time before economic reality will replace this type of quaint, peacfull resort with high rise buildings.
We'll be back & recommend Krystal to anyone with an open and fun attitude. Enjoy your stay and remember, it is Mexico!

A beautiful stay with excellent staff! Very friendly and accomodating ~ Just watch out for the time share people! Lots of beautiful people and very close to all important things to do! I will stay here EVERY time I travel!

Glad to be home

At first sight I though WOW, this is eye catching & beautiful. The rustic look appealled to me. It was different and unlike any other of the hotels along the beach it is very spacious! Sadly the first glance is very deceiving! 14 days later I write with a insiders view. SIGH, boring and the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. Rude, unfriendly, demeaning, lazy, full of contempt, are just a few words to describe the experiences that come to remembrance.
Our housekeeper was amazing though , and for that I left a good tip. I do hope it gets to where it belongs. (Did you know the help are only paid $5 US dollars a day and they depend on tips to live and wages?)
The front desk clerks & conserviers were VERY offensive, not just to my family but I witnessed unacceptable behaviour over and over again in the lobby. I never had one night of restful sleep due to unnecessary noise, ie late swimmers in the pool after the bar closed. I was wakened every night.
The Krystal is certainly not a four - five star like it is rated or a place I would recommend to anyone I liked.

We took our three kids ages 11,10 and 8 to the krystal and were not impressed! Very missleading if you are all-inlcusive! The grounds of the resort and the pool were very lovely but the service and the rooms were not good at all! The new tower was the only place of the whole resort that i would say to stay in! All villas and rooms were old and shabby. The AI people have to sign for every drink and every meal they have all day long. It is time consumming and annoying. YOu have to tell the waiter that you are done and then wait for them to print out receipt and wait for them to bring it to you, then sign name and room and signiture on it. This is mexican time so if you do this ten times a day then it takes alot of your time! Also the not AI poeple get served first and they get there drinks in glass and bottles where you get it in styrofoam if you are all -inclusive! The hospitality room we got for showering in on our last day was a run-down room with no towels and no hot water! I have many more complaints about this place but am tired of typing so my advise is to go elsewhere!

Krystal Vallarta is an old, unkept property with outdated rooms in need of repair. They do a poor job of keeping the property clean; especially around the pool area (I saw the same trash around the pool for days at a time). The service there is poor with an especially surly front desk staff that needs training in customer service.

My family (10 of us in 5 rooms) spent the Christmas week at the Krystal and were glad to go home. Don't stay there unless it is your last choice. That was our situation and we will never go back.

Top Local Tips for Puerto Vallarta

Attractions and Dining There are websites for individual events that allow you to book your tours in advance and these are usually the best deals. The local tour salespeople and hotel concierges are typically more expensive and usually include timeshare presentations or other wastes of time to get the good deals. Be ready to barter, good deals are to be had for about everything from souvenirs to snacks. Get the local flavor of restaurants from the concierge or ask a local. There are a ton of little places off the beaten path that are authentic and very reasonable.

Downtown Nothing downtown except for tourist junk and bars

You should go to Mismaloya You must go to Mismaloya that is about 20 mins from Puerto Vallarta Hotel Zone, this is a perfect beach, with few people around (in October)..you can sit by the beach, drink a couple of beers and just RELAX!! also there you can get a cheap snorkeling tour where you will go to Los Arcos to see beautiful coloful fish!! it´s a must!
