12/11/03: My wife and I have been coming here since 1984. Just about every year. Why, because it's simple a wonderful place. And Los Tules has recovered fully from the devastating hurricane Kenna of 2002 far greater than I ever expected. It's a family resort, but they have 8 pools and if you can't find peace and quiet at one of them you're a lost cause. The pool side menu is limited but I like that. We usually head into town 10 out of the 14 days we stay there anyway. The resorts food is very good and the waiters, etc are like family. If you go and don't agree, stay home next time and we'll carry on for you.

Top Local Tips for Puerto Vallarta

Resources A great website to help plan your trip is: www.virtualvallarta.com. Also be sure to see the movie Night of the Iguana with Richard Burton and Ava Gardner in it before you go. If you can swing it...be sure to take the bus from downtown to Boca de Tomatlan (at Southeast corner of Constitution and Basellio Badillo) then at Boca negotate to get a "water taxi" to the more secluded beaches of Quixomixta, Las Animas, or Yelpa. This is a great day outing.

Take Taxis Take taxis rather than the bus to and from the Malecon - it's just easier to get exactly where you want to go and it's still inexpensive. Eat at the Blue Shrimp about two blocks east of the Malecon. Divine food and wine and excellent service and ambiance!

Eden Don't miss an opportunity to visit Eden (predator set). It is quite unique
