Top Local Tips for Puerto Vallarta

General comments Stayed for a week at the Hacienda.
Upsides to hotel -- beautiful authentic feel, friendly staff, lots of fun planned activies, one block from beach, serene spa area, great location for all parts of Vallarta.
Downsides -- since the hotel is right off the main street, can get quite noisy, between the beach and hotel there is currently quite a bit of construction which can detract from the beauty of it all, not that many amenities, no elevator so if you're elderly or just lazy you might wanna request a 1st floor room, the beds are a bit hard and uncomfortable.
Over all, this hotel is good, but you definitely only get what you pay for. If you're looking for a big beautiful 5 star resort, this is not for you.

Not much within walking distance If you want to eat out, there isn't a whole lot of choice near by the hotel, you'll have to get on a bus and go downtown to find the best options. Not a far bus ride though, only 50 pesos

Tony's restaurant in Mismaloya is great A small secluded restaurant in the little town of Mismaloya - hard to find but well worth it - great value, great food! Acroos the highway from the resort area, down the cobblestone road into the little village and then ask where Tony's is, you will not be disappointed!
