Top Local Tips for Puerto Vallarta

Restaurants in old town Bci Bri for Thai food and only a block away - cross the street in front of the resort, turn left and the restaurant is on the first left...good food, great atmosphere. Also, La Piazetta for their thin crust Italian pizza at 930 pesos...nice outside area, good service, great food - a great deal for 2 people; under $20 with beer or wine. Tacuba Restaurant and Bar at the Marina...free shot of tequila to start, good simple Mexican food (and other choices too) and a free tia maria w/cream for an apertif! Victor is the owner and mingles with guests - a fun, inexpensive evening out and worth the stroll around the Marina too. Pacifica Grill on Badillo - all you can eat shrimp in romantic surroundings. For under $20, we had a choice of soup, followed by a fresh salad and a choice of entree (ribs, etc) with shrimp done 3 ways - coconut, battered and steamed. All good, but the simple steamed was the best and try as we might, we just couldn't eat any more! PS - Fun bar for dancing - Andales!

Bring lots of clean summer clothes... Bring lots of clean summer clothes...The pollution from the trafic and cobblestone dirt streets will make you shower and do laundry almost every day if you stay in the city! Otherwise, if you stay next to the beach theres not a cleanliness problem.

Air pollution from buses in city Air pollution from buses and trucks in city center is overwhelming and unhealthy! Stay in a hotel right next to the beautiful beaches for health and comfort.
