I went to tequila in mid february wit ha friend and her family. I thought the hotel was brilliant as the facilities were fantastic and well looked after and the animation crew were very friendly and helpful. All the staff was there to help you and if you ever had a problem they knew how to help. I am hopefully planning with family to go back and hopefully have as much fun.

Great location, great staff, clean and the food is wonderful. The entertainment is out of this world if you want to chill or party. Riu tequila is the best.

Top Local Tips for Playa Del Carmen

Playacar Bird Garden Take time out to walk down to this hidden treasure if you're a bird/wildlife enthusiast. Once inside you won't believe you're still in the middle of a resort - it's like wlaking through the jungle. The parrots & macaws are beautiful and the number of species amazing. Just sit for a while & watch - we were even lucky enough to catch sight of a snake in the undergrowth - and the birds & iguanas coem really close to you.

Riu Tequila This hotel is fabulous. Although it's not directly on the beach, it has the best of everything! The food is great(big variety), the service is fantastic, plenty of room, and the staff always makes you feel like you belong. I suggest spending a day or two just hanging out at the pool and swim up bar for a real day of relaxation. I would go back in a heart beat.

Taxi's Make sure when you get a taxi it is an official one and the driver is wearing a uniform. We were trying to get home from Port Adventuras when a Parasail rep asked if we wanted a taxi, we said Yes, assuming he would phone a real taxi - he only phoned a mate who turned up in a purple mondeo. As we were to get in I said NO, and pointed to his shirt. You can never be too careful!
