Top Local Tips for Playa Del Carmen

Ajua Don't go! In all my years of travel througout Mexico and the world this was absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced... And the food was only average...

lots of things to do snorkeling and scuba diving are great, horseback riding, nightlife, food and just taking it easy on the beach. All great.

Xel-Ha If you stay near Playa del Carmen, do take time to visit the eco-park called Xel-Ha (pronounced SHEL-ha). This water park is situated on a beautiful inlet off the Caribbean Sea. You can see tons of wildlife, both in and out of the water. You can participate in various activities like a float down a lazy river, walking across a rope bridge, cliff jumping, snorkeling, biking, kayaking, etc. Xel-ha is a great place for families and kids of all ages. There's plenty to do and also places for relaxing, like hammocks and beach chairs. The entrance fee is a good value, about $40 for general admission and $60 for an all-inclusive package. Plan to spend the day!
