Top Local Tips for Playa Del Carmen
Cenote Diving If you are a diver I would suggest checking out Pluto Dive. They have great packages for diving and if you have never been in a cenote I would strongly suggest doing so.
Get out of PlayAmericarmen, and into Mexico! Playa is a fun fun town, lower to the ground than Cancun, and not as much Bling-blang. As for the surrounding areas of Playa....Do not be afraid to drive here, but be careful on the coastal route to Tulum Ruins. (Road is 1 1/2 lanes). Driving inland to Colonial Merida, take the toll, before exploring back routes. Stay at Dolores Alba (for good value) in Piste, and see Chichen ruins, and the light show. Stay in Izamal, and enjoy this "magical" city.. Mayan and Spanish history flourish here. See Henequen growing in fields. Check out Merida's local swimming hole, at Dzibilchaltun ruins. It's a cenote, and the emerald water is surrounded by temples. Explore Meridan markets, Go stay in Ticul, and see the weaving and pottery. Check out Uxmal, and light show. Stop at Ek Balaam, Coba, Moyil, all near Playa for day trips. Check out Valladolid, for Cenote's in town, and just outside of town. Last, rest on the white coral sand, swim at Xel-ha, and go home! Guaranteed, you'll come back
