Top Local Tips for Playa Del Carmen

Bodega 22 This is the best restaurant we found in Playa. It is small, owner-managed, with an outstanding menu, including many deliciously prepared meatless items. The restaurant opened in February 2007 and has been growing slowly by word of mouth. We found it by accident and were so impressed we came back the following night. No one in our party of three was disappointed with any entree either night. Bodega 22 is just off Fifth Ave. at 22nd Street.

Playa is the most beatiful location and the people are very friendly have a lot of fun

Know your prices for taxi's Always check around on what is the 'going rate'. They will over-charge you if you don't first confirm prices. Some prices are set, bargain and confirm before you get in ... and tip well rather than be taken advantage of!!! The biggest rip off is when you arrive at the airport and travel to your destination. We were charged $84 to go to Playa from Cancun airport. Yet when leaving we only paid $30 or $40 --this by taxi. We paid 20$ off the daily posted rental fee (just by bargainin... well /hesitating really!!!). Be adventurous and take their public service & don't hesitate on taking the airport shuttle bus cause they drive FAST and get you to your destination in just as little time and at way less the cost!!!
