My husband and I have been staying here for several years. Now that we live in Mexico it is still one of our favorite places. The staff at the Posada la Basilica has always taken great care of us. The hotel has undergone extensive renovations and now it is very luxurious. We were happy with it before and at first disappointed. However, we have come to love it even more. Some advise if you stay on the weekend as it is across the street from the Basilica is to avoid rooms on the main street. The rooms on the lower level are the quietest or the ones that do not face the basilica. Try Cha Cha Cha across the street, you will not be disappointed.

Top Local Tips for Patzcuaro

Just so you know People go to bed early in this town so if you're use to late nights you may want to bring a good book. If you're not fluent in Spanish, I would suggest hiring a good guide. This area has lots to see and it is much more interesting with someone who knows their way around and knows the history. I asked at the hotel and they said they have guides who speak English and even French.
