Oacaca - Coming Back! Several years ago there were civil disturbances in Oaxaca which scared people. Life is very much returning to normal and there were few indications of previous troubles. No need to rent a car with so much of the city an easy walk. Cabs when you need them are inexpensive and readily available. I'm not a fluent Spanish speaking visitor but had little difficulties communicating with shops, restaurants, and others in Oaxaca. January and February are great times to visit because the weather is very pleasant. Coolish nights but warm days.

Take Your Time There are so many wonderful stores, take your time and see as many aas possible before you make that important purchase.

OAxaca Oaxaca is a great city with lots of art, music and great food. It is totally safe and has gotten a very bad reputation because of last years incident. My friend and i (both women) walked home after midnight many nights and were never bothered and always felt safe. There is so many wonderful things to do in Oaxaca. We would head out to the Zocalo every night and see free music concerts, eat great food and generally just immerse ourselves in the wonderful flow of the mexican people. They are wonderfully warm and fun! Music everywhere, well behaved children, smiles, art, great food . What more could you ask for in a city. Dont forget to go to the museum at the Santa Domingo church, go into the Camino Real hotel for drinks at night, walk the aquaduct area for funky restaurants and shops, go to one of the many spanish language schools, Dont forget to visit Monte Alban and teotatlan for the weavings, so many things to do but never enough time!!!!
