Terrible Hotel

The rooms are dirty, the service is unfriendly, and the management is not responsible. We were assured that our luggage would be safe in the hotel office when we went on an overnight trip to Patzcuro. Upon return one of the bags was missing. We filled out insurance forms but were not reimbursed for the loss. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

How did this hotel get a 4-star rating?
We found the interior shabby, and most of the staff unfriendly and unhelpful. The room smelled musty, the carpet was worn, full of holes and spotted. The light in the shower didn't work and was not working after 2 nights, even though we notified the front desk.
When my brother and I left for an overnight stay in another city, we took minimal luggage with us since we planned to return to the Imperial the next day. The clerk on duty assured us that our bags would be safe in their locked luggage area next to the reception desk.
When we returned to the hotel the next evening, my bag was not in the luggage area. No one seemed to know what happened to it. We were told to fill out insurance forms and bring receipts for the replacement items, including a new suitcase, and that we would be reimbursed.
When we gave the receipts to the hotel clerk, he told us the manager would have to check and get back to us about reimbursing us.
We had reserved several rooms for the rest of our group which was to stay in Morelia for one week. Because of the poor quality of the hotel and because of my incident with losing my luggage, we and the entire group found accommodations at another hotel(they were cheaper, more pleasant, and closer to the historic center of Morelia).
Although we went back to the hotel four times to check on the status of our reimbursement, the manager was never there (no matter what time of day we checked). To date, we have heard nothing about payment for the missing luggage.

in Uruapan you should go to: Parque Nacional ( by the hotel starts the river Cupatitzio really nice area), also go to Paricutin vulcano and city, go to San Juan Nuevo ( catholic site), Paracho (beautiful Purepecha town). this is the Avocado World capital (forget the histories and lies about avocado that US federal institution mention, just try it) really cheap if you came from Canada , Europe and US. For more cultural visitors (like european and canadian fellows), it is a place to be , there is a lot of culture remains and traditions,
