Top Local Tips for Morelia

combis Instead of buses, Morelia has VW buses called combis everywhere. There are half a dozen color categories with numbers within each color for various routes. I think they are contracted to the city by individual owners as they vary greatly in age and condition, but all are friendly and convenient ways to get around. We used combis to and from the main bus station. They pick up at the entrance to the bus station and drop off in the historic district. To return we walked just two blocks up the street, waited about 5 minutes, and waved our hand. Combis stop at any street corner along the route.
