I have stayed at the Hotel Fleming on multiple trips to Mexico City. It has clean rooms and a central location. Most of the staff at the desk and in the restaurant know at least some English. The people are very hospitable and the place is a sanctuary from the bustle of the city in the middle of the city.

I have stayed at the Fleming many times. The staff are friendly and the location is great. There is a new museum show casing mexican crafts and traditional art a block away. Alameda Park is also close.

Top Local Tips for Mexico City

Metro tips The metro is very easy to use and inexpensive, but you only need it if you want to travel well out of the Centro Historico district. The metro is GREAT/CHEAP to/from the airport, though it is packed during rush hour and a cab then will save you a lot of frustration/discomfort.

Be Careful in that neighborhood If you are not Latino you are a target for everyone. This not only includes people on the street late at night, but cab drivers, waiters, store employees, and hotel staff.
