Ok, its not a resort on the ocean, but for Mexico City, it is a beautiful place to stay. The furniture is large and authentic. They have a beautiful lobby where they serve breakfast every morning....everything from cereal, toast, fresh squeezed orange juice, and of course, papaya. Their dishes were traditional Mexican elegant ware. I stayed here for about two months. This was about five years ago and I still remember it....and miss it. The balcony was rounded (as the building is) and we overlooked the city street with its full and lush trees. Across the street, there was an elegant bar/restaurant and an unusual book/art store. Close by was an ice cream shop that made home made ice cream! The floors were stone tile and the furniture was big and beautiful with bright hues of orange and blue. Some things I didn't care much for: the pool was always in the shade so I never swam in it, the security guard was kind of nosy and released information to parties calling up to my room that should not have been released, and since Mexico does not have smog regulations, the smell of car exhuast never allowed me to fully enjoy the beauty of my balcony, and I guess the hotel was not a common one, as the taxi's never seemed to know what I was talking about when I told them where I was staying. It was easier to tell them I was near the prestigous Hotel El Presidente (I think that's what it was called - can't remember). All in all, it was a beautiful place to spend two months in Mexico City.
