Top Local Tips for Mazatlan
Swimming When we were staying at El Rancho it was December, there was alot of warning signs saying not to swim in the water due to jelly fish. For the month we were there, sadly we did not swim at all. Only in the hotels pool.
Mexcaltitan Island we took this tour.. my kids loved it. It's a island about the aztecs.. very mexican!
Carlos and Lucia's We've been going to Carlos and Lucia's for six years. Carlos still mixes up the best margarita in town, and their fajitas are the best.

The villas were nice, though not perfect (otherwise i would have rated El Rancho as a 10) - they were really big, which I really liked, because I always dislike being in a hotel room and feeling like I have no room.
What was really great was the beach - totally beautiful, and there was hardly anybody around, so we could really enjoy it. I guess that's because of the location - El Rancho is not in the Golden Zone, it's in New Mazatlan, which was much nicer for my taste. We went to the Golden Zone and other parts of Mazatlan, but there were so many people attacking us the whole time, trying to get us to buy jewelry or timeshares or who knows what, that we didn't enjoy it much.
The staff were really nice, and the price was reasonable, even for just my wife and I. Since the villas have plenty of room for 6 people, we're thinking about coming back with some other people from our family, and that would be an absolutely fantastic deal!
